RHONJ Recap: Dina Manzo Returns To Jersey!
Another Sunday, another episode in the books for the RHONJ! It was a very weird episode for lack of a better word (I’ll get into that later!) and the only thing it had going for it was the anticipated return of ex-housewife Dina Manzo!
The women are back in Jersey from the Napa trip that didn’t exactly end on a high note. Teresa and Caroline officially want nothing to do with each other, the Gorgas and Giudices are good, Jac and Teresa are okay, and Kathy is still working with Teresa. The episode begins with the Gorgas preparing their kids for their return to school. How cute are their children!? Joe is making pancakes and Melissa is the proud mommy taking pictures and video. It’s too adorable of a scene except they miss the school bus and Melissa has to rush back to get the car and drive Antonia herself. Over at Casa de Giudice, the girls are also going back to school. How fabulous it was to see Milania again! The girls take off for school, leopard print Jansports and all. So Jersey!
Melissa pow-wows with both Jacquelina and Caroline separately. With Jacqueline, they break banana bread together and discuss that Jacqueline is fine with Teresa as long as they maintain their boundaries. Melissa continues her rounds and goes to Caroline’s. Melissa tells Caroline that what she did was very high school and I can’t believe she talked back to her! Surprisingly, Melissa is still in one piece.
Teresa also visits Kathy, and Kathy brings up being left out of the toast. They get over it and I’m not sure what this scene was for. Kathy and Rich also discuss Victoria possibly leaving for college. They take a tour at a university in Maryland, and well that was about it. Zzzz.
It is the Fabellini launch party and only close friends and family are invited according to Teresa. Melissa tells the audience that Teresa doesn’t have a sitter for the evening so her and Joe will watch the kids. Melissa takes Milania and Gabriella for a girls spa day with Antonia.
OKAY. This is where things get strange. The Fabellini launch party was October 7, 2011. The Posche fashion show from the finale was on September 27, 2011. This means Teresa was already not speaking to her cast mates. Good one, producers! What is most embarrassing is Melissa lied in her talking head interview and said Teresa didn’t have a sitter. Also, who babysat Audriana and Gia!? Unless I missed it, there wasn’t a fabricated excuse for why the Wakiles missed the Fabellini party. So stupid. Hey Bravo, your viewers aren’t idiots. More annoying than this, on WWHL Andy asked Teresa why Jacqueline wasn’t at the Fabellini party. Surely he had to have known the truth about the editing? Teresa looked so confused and put on the spot and just said it was a party thrown quickly together. Hmmm. FYI: these producers are now fired and won’t be producing season 5.
Back in New Jersey, Caroline and the whole Manzo bunch are hosting an advice show for satellite radio. It doesn’t go so well, nobody is calling in and finally someone calls and asks some questions. At the Fabellini launch, Teresa looks great and is posing on the carpet and with Joe. Dina Manzo arrives, almost falls on the carpet and the step-and-repeat almost falls on her. She greets Teresa and they discuss Napa and what has been happening with Caroline. Dina tells her she will not let this pettiness get between their friendship. Teresa says blood is thicker than water and Dina says “not always”. Dina tweeted that she said this when they were discussing the Gorgas, but of course because of the editing they couldn’t show this because Teresa was supposed to be friendly with the Gorgas at this point!
Back at the Manzo radio show, someone finally calls and asks about Dina’s relationship with Caroline. She says the same thing as always – views change, but they’re still family blahblahblah. So yeah, very basic and drama-free of an episode. And very edited. Next week we will see part 1 of the finale, which I presume ends right when Melissa’s old boss shows up and leaves us hanging until the part 2 of the finale. I have just watched the episode and I have a few questions
1. if the launch party is filmed after the pfs why is Mel babysitting ?
2.if tre has no babysitter why did Mel only take two of the girls?
3. why was it that when Mel went to pick up the girls there was no mention of the launch party? ….only when Mel was talking to the camera
4. why would jac say she wasn’t invited and why would she want to be if she wasn’t talking to tre (we know this is true cause the

I think making it LOOK like they’re sort of supporting Teresa and sort of saying that Caroline went overboard is part of the calm-before-the-storm storyline that they ALL know is about to unfold. When the Evil Tree OUTS MEL AS A STRIPPER! it’ll be all the more dramatic. They’ll all feel so betrayed and hurt by Teresa! Oh, the humanity!!!

Yeah right Jo!! Whoever stays against Teresa they will join them. They are still trying to make sure they fit in with the bunch and get to keep camera time.
My view is more cynical than that, Michers. I think it’s all part of the plan/storyboard. We all know Teresa had nothing to do with the whole outing Mel as a stripper thing. So who did it? Don, Jac and Mel alone? Doubtful. It’s all producer-driven. I doubt they knew exactly where the producers wanted them to go or where it would go based on their set-ups, but they know they’re supposed to go along with whatever comes up – and they KNEW Teresa had nothing to do with it. But since it’s what the producers wanted and they want Teresa off the show anyway, they went along with the BS. One thing I do think is absolutely real about this particular reality show is their hatred for Teresa. The producers drive the storylines, but they’re happy to take the baton and engage in a little hate improv once they know where a particular filming session is going.

JoJo- call this strange, but based on previews I have seen, things I have heard and preview for next week, I am starting to wonder just how much Kim D was involved in the “set-up”! I also think she has some silly ties with Caro Manzo , as she tweeted her last night, something like ” Blood is thicker than water doll”- again not sure if thats a friend tweet, but did you see preview of shocked Teresa face and Kim D , not so shocked replies ” whoops” when the former Lookers boss says Mel danced!! OMG.. Kim D says she is friends with everyone but I find that hard to be true considering all said and done! Im sure Bravo orchestrated most of this and played this whole thing like a game!
I agree 100%. Based on what I’ve read via Rox’s reunion exclusive and the previews of the upcoming shows- it looks like Kim D put the whole thing together (with help from the producers).
I agree that Kim must have had her hand in on it…she is hungry for air time BUT, BUT I still believe this whole set up was producer inspired. They needed a willing participant to help them gather players and work behind the scenes. In fact this whole season has been a spin job by producers. Meho’s sudden ‘love’ for her sister in law- Kathy and the hot tub scene to rile things up.

I don’t think so. Teresa didn’t appear in the least little bit vindicated on WWHL, and she wouldn’t have been able to hide something like that. She’s no actress. Instead she looked angry, vindictive and bitter.
And the permanently glued on smile is becoming more and more ghastly and demented-looking. It doesn’t look like she’s smiling anymore so much as baring her teeth at people.
Not only that, but at the reunion (one day after the fashion show), Teresa looked so G-U-I-L-T-Y that you just KNEW she had done something pretty horrible.
Michers, I think it was the producers along with KimD, KimD seems to happy and this is standard Bravo move. To see where the chips will fall and who is really friends with who.

Three minutes into the new episode and I have to point something out. When Gia made the remark about Melissa controlling Joe, wasn’t a big deal made about how they should not be discussing those things in front of the kids because they pick it up? Yet here are Melissa and Joe discussing the last day of the trip in front of their kids.

A big deal was made out of the fact that Teresa COACHED Gia to say that about her aunt, just as she coaches her to say many other things on film that aren’t true.
No one knows if that’s true and for you to say that is ignorant. You’re not in the house if it “occurred”…at 11 you know when things aren’t right especially when it comes to family politics. I guess if anyone has an embarrasingly desperate routine it’s you…and that’s the truth
She was prompted to say that by Teresa. Neither Gia nor Teresa can act worth a damn — what they were doing was laughably obvious.
Samantha, I don’t recall anyone saying that Gia was prompted or coached to say that Melissa controls Joey (well, maybe you did). What I remember was that the discussion was about Gia possibly just repeating an adult conversation that she should not have heard, that’s all. Melissa herself is very quick to point out that Teresa’s children are exposed to things that they shouldn’t be seeing/hearing (she was especially keen on doing this during season 3). The point that is being made here is that both the Giudice AND the Gorga children are exposed to such things, meaning Melissa is equally as guilty of the things that she has openly criticized Teresa for. The cameras don’t lie, they have caught her doing the very same thing.
Granted, children cannot always be shielded from everything. But Melissa should memorize the “let those who are without sin cast the first stone” adage and repeat it to herself daily.

I just want these episodes OVER. Knowing how it ends makes it more painful than anything. We know they all turn on Teresa so Melissa acting like she’s sticking up for her with Caroline (coming up) is pointless to watch. They are so busy worrying about how Caroline is treating Teresa when they helped it happen and treat her just as badly themselves. So done with these people.

I didn’t see that as “acting” at all. And that took major courage, as far as I’m concerned.
Like it or not, Caroline is regarded as the “matriarch” of the show and has been with the show since day one. Melissa is relatively new, and I assume
wants to stay on the show.
She could easily have made trouble for herself, from her POV anyway, by criticizing Caroline and defending Teresa.

In this episode did anyone notice that Melissa started to squeal a bit when getting Antonia off to school? She started to do and sound like Teresa! Teresa has always done that and now after a couple seasons melissa is now starting to do it.
She’s been doing that since she got on the show. Everything Tre does, Melissa does too. It’s endearing when Teresa does it, but it’s annoying when Melissa does it. LOL

I was so embarrassed watching that part, I had to keep reminding myself it was Caroline so I shouldn’t be embarrassed but it was just THAT bad. I’m pretty sure they had a Bravo person or something call in just to get a phone call. And wasn’t it funny how it was about Caroline and Dina 2 seconds before they put Dina showing up to Teresa’s event. It’s like they aren’t even trying to make it seem like everythings not a set-up anymore.

Kathy is such a kiss ass and now she is trying to do damage control! I love Teresa I just don’t understand why she doesn’t put kathy in her place. It was very clear what kathy did and teresa called her on it that night on the trip. Caroline is a piece of work and all of them need to stop talking about and bringing up Teresa. You know, I really don’t even understand Kathy. I’m trying to think about this from the perspective of my own relationship with my female cousins. I have five female cousins – a few that I’m close with and one that is closer to me than my own sister is – and I’ve had my rough points with several of them, too. Regardless, I’d NEVER say anything behind any of their backs that I would not say directly to them. And here is the key: I would not say anything intentionally HURTFUL to them, behind their back OR to their face. They are my family and I love them no matter how close or not we are, I will support them always and I’d never say a bad word about any of them to someone else, let alone a national viewing audience. That is the HEIGHT of disloyalty.
So this is what I mean when I say I don’t understand Kathy. She says she’s old school and all about respect? Does she HEAR the way she talks about her own blood ON NATIONAL TV? Would she tolerate Victoria and Joseph speaking about each other the way she talks about Teresa behind her back? What kind of example is she setting for her children about the way family should treat each other? How about the fact that she thinks it is funny the way her husband also speaks about Teresa (in front of their children, no less) and she excuses it by saying “you have to understand Richie’s sense of humor”. I’d be both mortified and furious to hear someone speaking about my family that way!

Yep. Caroline did the EXACT same thing with Danielle. She warned everyone about the Evil Danielle, but no one would listen to her sage advice!! Then, eventually, they all ( Dina, Jac ) learned the error of their ways and realized that The Wise Don was right all along! It’s a very tired narrative. They showed a few episodes of season 2 today that highlighted this EXACT storyline. Caroline really needs to get some new material.

I know it won’t last but I love it that in this episode Melissa is helping Teresa out and is treating her like a sister. I wish she would continue working on being a sister to teresa and joe rather than an enemy. She would build a lot of fans if she did what was right. She doesn’t realize that people loved seeing everyone get along in the first few seasons. I would much rather see her and melissa working together rather than kathy and T. At least with melissa you know where her dislike for teresa comes from with kathy she and richie are snakes and sneaky in how they do things.

JoJoLaMa – you said it! Caroline not only failed at feigning humility but also at feigning humiliation. Her “little ole me” routine was ridiculous and her logic behind it was quickly disproved by what actually happened in the studio.
She claimed that she was shocked that anyone would want to hear advice from “just Caroline” but yet there she was! On Sirius XM! Well, if people were truly scrambling for her dole out advice, the phone lines would have been lit up as soon as she gave out the call-in number. But…*CRICKETS*. And in her TH she said “I was almost embarrassed.” Oh, you were ALMOST embarrassed? Jeez Caroline! What you meant to say was that you were f*cking tail between your legs, sharting your pants, mortified because you blew yourself up with all your false humility and then fell flat on your face. Again.
For what it’s worth, I’ve actually co-produced radio shows before and you don’t just go into it blindly and unprepared like that. You do not just wait for calls to come in and while you’re waiting, sit there with a dumb grin on your face, giggle nervously, throw questions about your kids to your husband who doesn’t want to be there and who immediately throws it right back to you, and then decide that you want to take a break and “wet my whistle”. No. You write up a show outline of topics you want to cover during your time slot. You research your topics. You write down talking points that you can elaborate on to fill dead air time. You make a list of references (like books or websites) to give out to your audience so they can further educate themselves on the show topics and also so they don’t think you are a fraud or a know-it-all. And then magically, while you are talking (because, it IS a talk show) the calls will come in. But you have to TALK, Caroline! You can’t just expect that you can tell people “Hey! Call me! Please!” and people will start calling and that will sustain your entire show (although she is used to telling people what to do and getting her own way).
Maybe if Caroline wasn’t such a pompous assbag and did a little homework on how to structure a radio show for an hour, she’d have known this and she would not have been “almost embarrassed”.

Caroline is a dumbass she can’t see that the only thing holding her back is her own kids. You are the house wife why are they apart of everything? That’s a good point. She projects the image of self-professed matriarch and infantilizes her adult children to fulfill her own prescribed role of all-importance. But the truth is that rather than them needing her to such an extent, she needs them even more. Without her children being so dependent on her (which she forces on them), her role as caregiver does not exist. Caroline refuses to allow herself or her children to make the transition into their adulthood because to do so will make her unimportant (in her mind). And that is very sad for her. But it is also very unfair and emotionally immature and irresponsible as a parent to do such a thing.
My long-winded point was that her fear of letting her kids leave the nursery is what prevents her from standing on her own. Instead she hides behind the facade of them being a united front but it’s just a cover for her own insecurity of them growing up and not needing her anymore.

Dina said something that I’ve been kinda tweeting all season about Caroline. All that anger and negative energy (or whatever you want to call it) has made HER INTO AN UGLY.HUMAN BEING. Literally. If you go through the seasons her physical appearance has changed a lot compared to this season. To me her face just looks haggard (I just became a Teresa supporter the past two seasons and I used to like the manzos). It looks like she has jowls, her skin is dull and unless talking about her hatred of Teresa or what I think is a weird teetering on obsessive relationship with her boys her eyes are dead…why Teresa isn’t carrying a bottle of holy water, a bible and a rosary with her at all times (and sage lol to cleanse herself after every encounter with the manzo clan) is trully beyond me
Dina’s words rang so true last night when she said that holding onto anger makes you ugly. And the thing is, she wasn’t even talking about her sister; she was responding to Teresa’s comment that the stress is giving her wrinkles. Dina is not vindictive, she is peaceful and enlightened. If a person is consumed by negative feelings and obsesses over anger, bitterness, jealousy and hatred it will manifest in their appearance. Conversely, if one knows peace and love, can enjoy their own success as well as the success of others without feeling envy, shows kindness and forgiveness, and has balance in their life, it will radiate from within and also affect their outward appearance.
It is very easy to spot positive vs negative people. Dina and Teresa GLOW, for god’s sake. Drew Barrymore is a good example of a positive, peaceful person, too.
Then look at Caroline. She emits the energy of an evil Disney queen. Serpents and green fog and things that smell bad.

It was such a juvenile remark when Jacqueline said it didn’t make sense that Teresa invited Dina to the Fabellini party when Teresa was fighting with Caroline, had just made amends with Jac and Dina/Caro were not speaking. It implied that Teresa is expected to freeze people out the way Caroline does (and as Jacqueline obeys). Teresa and Dina have been friends for almost 20 years. Teresa had every right to invite Dina and Dina had every right to attend.
I have said for years that Jacqueline exists in a suspended state of adolescence, as if her mind stopped maturing at age 16-ish, the way her logic and behavior indicates. That statement is a perfect example of why I believe this. Dina and Teresa have NO problems with each other. There is no reason to question why Dina went to that party or why Teresa invited her. Only a child-like mind would find it questionable. Jealousy is a very juvenile emotion and that is precisely what Jacqueline was demonstrating when she gave that TH interview. The subtext of her statement was “Why was Dina invited when I wasn’t?” but she worded it as “It didn’t make sense.” Well, Jac, it makes sense to people who are capable of celebrating the successes of their friends without being envious of them. It makes sense to people who are capable of staying out of other peoples’ family feuds. It just doesn’t make sense to YOU because you don’t understand these concepts.

I was under the impression the entire Manzo fambly had lapbands. Besides maybe Albie. I had a friend who was about the size of Lauren and same age considering a lapband, and basically the doctors told her she needed to try everything else first and they only used it as a last resort especially in younger people. My mom also has 3 coworkers who all got one around the same time, and two are having serious health issues because of it, one almost died. I don’t think Teresa is wrong when she made that comment, it is NOT the healthy way to go. Call me silly but I think it is a good message to not encourage 21 years olds to get the lap band. I would not assume the poll is fixed. I don’t watch WWHL any more. I quit the episode when Andy called Milania a brat. When Andy so definitively showed his anti-Teresa bias, he lost what made him so appealing. His appeal is rooted in the idea that he’s everybody’s fan, a genuine nice guy. When he revealed his inner Heather, that was it for me. Since I don’t watch, I can’t vote in the poll.
I am sure I am not the only one who quit watching WWHL after Andy turned on Teresa and her kids.

I had a friend who had gastric bypass and she’s so fucked up it’s unbelievable; it happened over a year ago and she hasn’t returned to work. You would not believe the complications that can arise from weight loss surgery, but irresponsible people like Lauren makes it seem like it’s easy like Sunday morning. No, that surgery is very dangerous. Also I know tons and toms of people who have had lap band. The first few months they’re constantly at the Dr. getting the band tightened and loosen. Everyone that I know that has had the lap band lost their weight, kept their poor eating and no exercise habits, and found every pound that they lost within three years. As I’ve said, I know tons of people. I considered having the surgery after my son was born (I gained 93 lbs during my pregnancy). My husband said hell no, push back from the table and exercise. It took damn near forever, but I got it off. Now I’m back on track to look like Lauren Manzo again. Yippee.
I can believe it. I have come across about 5-6 women through our travels and they all had complications, very sad for those who have truly struggled, had no alternatives, no help, no $$ or daddy to fix and this lying little spoiled brat who has her family gang up on her, picks a fight with Teresa? Wake up America! That is not even considering the poor souls who lost their lives form needing the surgery.. shame what Bravo allows to be exploited in the wrong way.
I hear you Michie- at my old job, insurance covered the lapbands/gastric bypass- we lost one fella on the table (his wife was due in 1 week with twins….sad sad sad), another had her SECOND procedure and she STILL didn’t lose the weight…. others had complications….and after 5 yrs, most of the others that lost a drastic amount of weight had gained approximately 1/2 back.
There is no easy way out for losing weight… like Bama’s comments, HARD WORK, SELF CONTROL and learning to deal with the WHY”s of your over indulgence is the long term solution that usually lasts.
I know. I swear it’s nit worth the risk. The chick that I know that messed up she wishes she would’ve stayed fat- way way less complications. Lauren saying things like if I were skinny I’d be happy. Where is she located? That’s sounds utterly stupid to me. I’m not a health but by any stretch of the imagination, but weight loss is not really that hard to do (as long ad your thyroids aren’t screwed up). I’m a nurse and I used to take care of people at home who had complications following gastric bypass. It’s not really the procedure itself but complying with everything you need to do afterwards. You don’t always hear about the people who don’t do well with it. Anyway comparing a boob job to a lap band is stupid and truly juvenile. I just feel sorry for Lauren in some ways because she I think she probably had a really bad childhood. I mean, if your mom calls you fat and an a**hole on national tv, imagine what she’s called to her face when the world’s not watching. She has a foul mouth and a bad temper and seems to be isolated from anyone outside manzoville. Does anyone know if Vito is still in the picture?
Really now we all know that the Manzos blame others for every problem in their lives. Or rather Teresa is the blame of all the issues in their lives. Its Teresa’s fault that the Manzos as a family has trashed Lauren, that half of the Laurita family does speak to Caroline, it Teresas fault Caroline didn’t get the cookbook deal, the teeth whitening ,or the endorsement deals. I don’t know, I kind of like Samantha… I disagree completely with her 99.9% of the time but, come on, she is funny as hell! A lot of regulars have had some snappy comebacks but Samantha has had her moments, too. For a (mostly) lurker like myself, I find her entertaining minus the inappropriate comments about Gia, of course, but those were deleted before I could see those. I understand a lot of you are truly sick of her but I just wanted to say that as long as she keeps in clean with the kiddies, I’m going to keep looking at her comments. Just my opinion, guys! As for the savannah Nicole person, I’ve seen that username on the bravo blogs putting in major work. I guess that got boring… Or futile. I don’t think she’s a very tolerant person of differing opinions based on what I’ve read. I am sure that carries over into her offline life. She tries way too hard and it’s kind of sad. Rox, to answer your question, I hate the editing and the lies. It makes me feel even more bad for Teresa because she cannot catch a break! I am in no way defending the others on the cast but I am wondering how much of a part in this whole mess has editing played a role in the demise of all these relationships? Especially if you had shady producers manipulating so much, what have they done or said to them to turn them against T? This would also explain WHY Caroline can never say why she is mad at Teresa!!! They cannot say if “insiders” had their hands in this! What a shame if the Bravo employees were the only ones at the root of all of this! It does not take away from some of them lying to get on the show, but it would explain a lot of this mess, not all, but a lot.
