RHOM Recap: A Mynt Meltdown
Last week on The Real Housewives of Miami, Karent and Ana had a minor confrontation and it was revealed that Karent’s soap opera boyfriend, Rodolfo, had been flirting via text message and Facebook with Ana. Joana also gave an ultimatum to her boyfriend Romain – the two are at a weird crossroads, don’t have sex too often, have been engaged for five years and have been postponing their wedding since, so Joanna told him it’s either marriage or she’s out!
This week’s episode begins with Marta, Joanna’s sister, telling Joanna that she has taken Lisa’s offer to move into her house temporarily because of the friction between herself and Romain. Joanna says that moving out is not the answer and that Romain just has a lot on his mind right now, including work and his American citizenship coming up. Joanna gushes about Romain’s success with Mynt, which has been around for 10 years, and she tells us that for a club to last that long in Miami is like “winning the lottery”. The Ferrari they are cruising in after the citizenship ceremony is a nice contrast to the story she is telling of how they are similar in that they both came from nothing, and have achieved all this success since coming to America.
Karent is skyping with Rodolfo who is abroad on business. She lets him know of her confrontation with Ana regarding the rumors that their relationship is “make believe”. Rodolfo tells Karent that she needs to stand up for herself by ignoring these comments and be confi0dent in their relationship. Makes no sense. Or is it just me? Anyway.
Lisa is lounging by the pool – because she doesn’t have a job, as she told us last week – and Daysy (her BFF/housekeeper) brings her a drink. Joanna hits up Lisa on one of those reality TV speakerphone calls and she invites her to Mynt’s (Romain’s Miami lounge) 10 year anniversary party. Lisa tells her that she will host a sushi pre-party at her house for all the girls and Joanna agrees that it’s a great idea. I’m so sure she came up with that idea spontaneously while she was on the phone and had nothing to do with production…!
Lea is hanging out with her housekeeper Freda who is making her do her hair. This is a pretty hilarious scene, because Lea appears to be the servant to Freda in a weird twist! She is basically a glorified housekeeper who has gotten her own not one, but two housekeepers, room, amenities, gets driven around, etc. Where do I apply to “work” for Lea?!
Lea hosts a meeting with the volunteers for her annual charity gala, which is one of the biggest events in Miami society. Lisa expresses that she is going to make an effort with Lea despite the rocky start to their relationship so far. During this meeting we are introduced to Elaine, Lea’s drag queen friend, who will make frequent appearances throughout the season. Right off the bat, Elaine brings up the drama from last year’s gala in which Marysol did not let Elaine walk the red carpet and I can just tell that this Elaine Lancaster will definitely be the pot stirrer side character.
It’s finally the night of the Mynt anniversary party and Joanna and Marta are over at Lisa’s – the House Built by Boobs – for sushi and a little pre-gaming. Lisa is dressed to the nines, surgically altered nipples poking through her bandage dress and all. The ladies start to get into the Marta vs. Romain issue and Joanna is clearly in the middle of her sister and boyfriend’s drama. Marta accuses Joanna of not defending her, ever, when Romain says mean things to her such as calling her “fat”.
Adriana and Karent arrive at Lisa’s. I have to say that this cast is definitely the sexiest from all the Real Housewives series! Joanna brings up Elsa and the ladies go into a discussion about her. Joanna says she looks “scary” and Lisa even says her plastic surgery is simply not good. They totally express my feelings about Mama Elsa – awful, scary plastic surgery gone bad but you just want to be her friend and hang out with her.
Lisa, Adriana, Karent, Marta, and Joanna arrive at Mynt followed by Marysol and Ana. Lea arrives with Elaine and they’re clearly the oddballs out – the older lady and the towering drag queen. Lisa brings up this point and says “shoot me if I’m at the club when I’m 40.” The ladies bring up the gala, and Marysol says she chose not to do Lea’s gala red carpet. Lea tells us that she did not choose not to do it, but was just not asked to work the event again. Elaine is called over into the conversation by Joanna who is egging on the drama and stirring the pot! At least she admitted to being a pot stirrer when drinking. Marysol gets into it with Elaine about having been denied onto the red carpet a last year’s gala. Something tells me this is not the end of this!
The girls are dancing and Marta’s ex-boyfriend is spotted DJing at the club. This guy broke Marta’s heart after cheating on her and leaving her for the new girl. Back at the table, Adriana (a brunette) starts flirting hardcore with Romain and tells him that he needs to try a brunette since he’s so used to blondes (meaning Joanna). Mind you, Adriana is still engaged to Frederic, who is not present at the party! They weren’t joking when they started dubbing this show a “reality telenovela”.
A drunk Joanna comes up to the table and is in tears screaming at Romain that Marta’s ex be kicked out. She is causing a scene and clearly ruining Romain’s big night. Karent talks Joanna down and tells her that Marta needs to fight her own battles. Joanna gets into a screaming match with Marta in front of everyone. Marta is pissed off that Joanna created this mess and rightfully so, in my opinion. Romain is still upset and Joanna is mad at him for being pissed off, but she thinks she is in the right because she is sticking up for her sister. Romain storms off and leaves his own event, visibly upset at Joanna.
Next week the ladies continue to take Miami and there are more revelations about the ladies’ personal lives with significant others! Are you engaged in these women yet? What do you think of Joanna’s erratic drunk behavior?

I love this series and wish more people would give it a chance. It amazes me that more people love the dark, awfulness of NJ but not the superficial drama of Miami.

I love this one also, alot of good looking women. But something about Marysol and that event last year isn’t being said yet and I can’t wait to find out. Even Lea said that she knew why but didn’t want to bring it up. Also (Loved Joanna in that lingere when she woke up) in regard to Joanna and her sister, I think something is wrong with that relationship. I wonder if Romain tried to hit on Marta or Marta did and he is trying to keep his mouth shut and keeping his distance. Is it because she is taking up to much of their personal time (heck I don’t believe that, he doesn’t have sex with her anymore it seems). And that fight was some bad acting at the club when he wanted Marta’s ex thrown out, it looked contrived.
Romain I think doesn’t think Joanna is all that and he’s looking around. Adrianna was very blunt about hitting on Romain, if he would have said lets go do it she would have. Hell she was hanging on to him like crazy. Maybe that is the reason she punches Joanna at that lingere party we see so much in the previews.

1 season I tried to watch this series and it was so boring I couldn’t get in to it… this year I’m loving it!
I am with you- 1st season- I understood they were not going to do Miami again and I agreed! But glad I gave it a chance this season- much better!
I know she a fan favorite but it was nice not to see Mama Elsa last night- her plastic surgery scares me! Sorry to her fans
this season is gonna be good. i’m already loving it. i already have my favs and no so favs. joanna is not my fav. she’s absolutely gorgeous but her attitude stinks. she seems really self centered and mistreats her sister. it was kinda funny that she put her sister down and told her not to make a scene at the club but joanna was the one flipping out. the drag queen elaine looks very interesting and i have a feeling is gonna be part of some drama. lea and her housekeeper is hilarious. that’s a funny role reversal. i would love her job. overall i think this cast is the most beautiful women i have ever seen. every woman on that show is intelligent and have big egos. which is a recipe for alot of drama.

The conversation those two had was shocking!
I thought the same thing as well. Extremely inappropriate conversations with the daughters and yet the parents laugh at it.
The couple is amicable which is to be commended but get divorced already. They are both in new relationships. They moved on but not officially and that’s just weird.
LOL – That’s funny because I didn’t find that conversation that shocking at all. I guess it just depends on what kind of house you grew up in.
So far I like this season,
Martha needs to move out because she is clearly the 3 wheel!!! She is not a baby any more. She can find her self a place to stay. Joanna can’t be the older one! She acts like a 10 year old. Very immature for sure.
I like marysal plus I saw her here in Miami and she is such a nice warming person.

I’m enjoying the cast, some more than others. All of these women are beautiful and have extremely wealthy lifestyles. I love the sunny location of Miami as well.
I’m trying, I REALLY am. I think for me a big part of it is (and PLEASE don’t beat me up for what I’m about to type)is I’ve always had a really hard time with accents. Subtitles are ok once in a while, but I just don’t have the energy to try that hard to understand what they’re saying.

Don’t worry about it. My mom has a strong accent, my dad has a slight accent, but some accents are so hard for me to understand. I just tune out, and change the channel. I love Southern accents, but Spanish accents are too hard for me. Last season, most of their accents drove me crazy, but this season… It isn’t so bad. I love Krupa, and I try watching it for her, but I can’t get into this show. Adriana is beautiful, but her Brazilian accent comes out too strong.I love Alexia, but her accent hurts my ears, and I’m constantly rewinding what they’re saying. Lol.
Love Mama Elsa, but… Oy vey! She’s the hardest one to understand. Lol. She makes the show though. She’s funny, and she should just have her own show! I’d watch. I’ll give this show a few more episodes (FOR THE LOVE OF KRUPA), but if the storyline continues to suck… I’m out.
Sucks how the premiere only had .8 million people tuning in. Not even 1 million! That’s lower than low! Whoa! I hope Dallas or Arkansas comes out with The Real Housewives. Lol.
I am loving Miami I can deal with their little bit of drama. Beautiful people & location.
I will definitely be watching Miami this season. I have always loved marysol since season 1. Joanna seems to be a piece of work and Adriana dosen’t seem to be in love with Frederic, just his money. I’am not sure about Lisa yet. Lea is the same, Karent is the only one that I’am not thrilled about, can’t put my finger on it yet. I’am sure by the end of the season my opinion’s will change. That is exactly what happened to me on RHONJ.
I’m loving this season so far. The ladies are all so beautiful. I am loving Lisa so far. She is one of the people who I thought would be very conceited and wouldnt like, but I think she is hilarious. I like the way she treats her housekeeper Daisy. I think Joanna is gorgeous, but that girl has strong opinions. I like watching her scenes because she is always saying something that I can’t help but laugh over. Marysol is kinda boring and Ana’s family is crazy. I like Ana but she seems a little too uptight. Ana seems like a great friend to Marysol. Karent I think is conceited but hasnt given me a reason not to like her. Lea is so full of herself and is pretty annoying.
Please tell me if you agree- but I think that Joann’s sister fights with her boyfriend because those two have the “hots” for each other!
They either need a roll in the hay or have already rolled in the hay behind sisters back and that is where tension comes from.
She says he is mean to her and calls her fat- I think trying to convince his self not attracted to her.
The fight I saw them have in episode 1 was more like flirting than fighting- with his smirk on his face!

I agree – it is weird. When Joanna was drunk and said to him “You HATE her!” he had a look on his face that was more like “No, I love her”

I agree! Marta gives me bad vibes. I hope she’s a good sister to Joanna because it looks like she wants Romain pretty bad! I wouldn’t be surprised if he imagines her naked a lot. I hope not! How can you pass up Joanna for her?
I was certain I’d be bored with Miami because season 1 was alll zzzzz’s. I love this season. Its so fun and like a much more glamorous fun version of what the franchise began in OC. I was so happy to enjoy a show and not feel like I had to look away while Teresa was beat down yet again by a troupe of vile women. Joanna is my absolute favorite! She’s so unbelievably gorgeous. Not to bring up nj but when u see how stunning Joanna is it makes you realize even more how average and mousy melissa gorga is. I’m also a vegan so I’m looking forward to joanna being staunchly against animal cruelty on national tv. Represent! I actually really liked lisa last night. I didn’t think I’d like her and honestly thought she would be a lame trophy wife but she has a fun great personality. Lea adds some variety to the mix and I like that. If I want to watch a gang of boring women that are all shockingly carbon copies then I’ll watch rhonj. No thanks. Welcome to Miami!!!

Idk why but ana reminds me of kathy. Lol. Dont like it and trying to see her for who ana is but its something about her and it makes me not like her. Lol. Im curious as to what really happened between elane lancaster and marysol. I think elane is just a big drag drama queen. I think the step and repeat portion of the show was over and thats why marysol might have told her not to walk. Ugh! Leah loves the drama its so annoying. I was getting kind of pissed at the fact that adriana thought it would be “okay” to start flirting with romain infront of all the ladies. Especially since joanna was at the club too. It was funny how joanna told marta not to start drama yet there goes joanna-not only instigating the fight with marysol and elane, but embarassing her sister and romain. I thought it was rude of joanna and lisa talking about mama elsas face. Obviously elsa cant do anything about her face plus shes too old to try to repair the damage. Joanna said “when i saw her i just wanted to hug her.” thats not right and like adriana said its not elsa’s fault what happened to her face, its the doctors fault. I miss seeing alexia. Karent is so ignorant to the fact that her man is such a damn cheater and loser. Who cares if hes a damn soap star. If he doesnt have respect or loyalty for you, then whats the point about all the other shit? His looks wont make him stay faithful to you. I think karent knows her man is a douche but shes probably afraid to leave and be single considering shes getting older and maybe wants to settle. Its a shame since shes gorgeous and so damn smart. I love that her mom is finally stepping up, hopefully she will bring some sense to her mind.
I must say its refreshing to see new faces and not have miami be so dark and evil. Jersey is just beyong disgusting now with the bullying and bashing of tre. Hope they do the same like they did to miami and new york, and bring on new people so we can start to laugh and have fun again
From one Joanna to another Joanna, Leave that guy! He dismisses you as childish. Embrace your care free attitude and youth, it goes quickly. Surround yourself with young, energetic people. And I think your Polish and Passionate, dont feel bad! I sense a weird flirty thing your sister does with your boyfriend, watch that.
I find it very strange that Johanna and Romain don’t have sex anymore. That is def a sign that Romain has another woman. And there is something going on with Marta and Romain-why would she walk into his bathroom while he was taking a showera? Don’t any of these people on all of the shows have locks on their doors? (I am referencing St. Barth’s and everyone walking into each other’s bedrooms and then reporting on what they witnessed.) Maybe Bravo has stipulated “no locked doors” in their contracts just as they must all use speaker phone when talking on the phone. Momma Elsa had illegal silicone injected in her face years ago by an unscrupulous doctor. Silicone should never be injected into a face-let alone anywhere else in the body. I saw a preview where Elsa visits a plastic surgeon to discuss removing the silicone. I hope the doctor can do it for her as she was a stunning beauty in her day.she even mentioned the doc who “ruined” her face when she and Marysol were in the jewelry store. I think she went to another country to have the silicone injected because it is against the law here in the states as it was found to cause deformities aka Elsa’s strange facial features. The silicone adheres to the muscular structure and deformities are from scar tissue growth over the silicone. It’s the body protecting itself from the poisonous material. The new doc will have to open up her entire face and try and scrape away the silicone andddf the surrounding scar tissue. I prauy that Elsa can get some help with her face. She listened to a very bad foreign doctor. I wonder how many other women he has deformed over the years? Johanna should leave Romain-he is not an ethical guy. Spends all of his time in a nightclub surrounded by beautiful woman who come on to him. Marta is a big girl and needs her own apt. Doesn’t she have any money or more importantly any self respect? I think her feelings for Romain keep her in their apt. What does everyone else think about my comments?
Melissa’s silver eyeshadow flew off when she saw that creep and then can’t seem to remember him but in the bathroom all of sudden she said she was a bartender. I thought she said she couldn’t figure out where she knew him from. Don’t think so and if she was just a bartender why did she keep saying she didn’t know who he was. This whole season has just been too much. Between Joe and his Tarzan, Richie showing his thing, Vinnie showing his tattoo up his ass, and Theresa jumping Joe in the vineyard it should be rated R. I will never understand how these women do this show when they have children. Do you think Gia wants to see her father calling her mother a C and B word, NO!! Melissa and Joe are selling their house because they can’t afford it since it was a spec house, Theresa and Joe are in the hole for millions, Chris and Jacqueline(who has had a complete nervous breakdown) were sued and then his company had problems with Roc o Wear going bust, Albert slept most of the season because he was tired from being with the girlfriend, Lauren has a big mouth just like her mother and I guarantee in a couple of years she will gain the weight back and is still living at home, Chrikopher as she calls him has gained a few too so he will be next for the lapband, Caroline drove Albie’s girlfriend away so she can move. She needs to cut the cord and get a life. She is just an angry bulldog and for someone who doesn’t have time for drama, she caulsed it all!! It is exhausting and their all in worse shape for doing this dam show.The reunion will be a doozy!!
