Melissa Gorga Explains Why She Constantly Does Appearances
Once you become an official housewife, your name obviously gets out there and then you get asked to do paid appearances. Almost every housewife gets asked to do a paid appearance but not all housewives do it because it’s not there thing, or most of them don’t need the money. As most of you know, Melissa AND Joe Gorga are obsessed with doing appearances. And when I say obsessed. That’s a total understatement.
My whole thing is how the heck do you have the strength to literally go to these paid appearances constantly? Melissa has been tweeting a lot lately and was asked if she ever gets tired of hosting and if it’s her new job. Melissa responded that she doesn’t and said, “I love meeting everyone! I’ll do it as long as they keep booking me!”

If you desperately need to do paid appearances constantly, you definitely are having some money issues! If Mel loves meeting her fans so much, why charge them? Just a thought! Think about it, Melissa.

I knew Mel was a famewhore, but I thought Joe was just too in love with her to think anything she did was wrong-but that look on his face says it all. It may be about the money for Joe (both Rich and T made offhand comments about Joe G.’s love of money) but it seems like a pure ego trip for Mel. She’s managed to convince herself that she is a pop star and now she’s trying desperately trying to make her real life into something that resembles her delusions. If she weren’t so destructive I would almost feel sorry for her.
Rox, Like I have said on your site before, the ladies have a small window to make money and build their brands. Tre was doing tons of appearances two years ago and look at where she is now, also NeNe has made allot of money doing the same thing. I say let them all strike while the iron is hot. I am going to see Melissa tomorrow night.
I don’t remember any of the housewives taking their husbands on all of their appearances. It really seems that Mel needs Joe there given that she can’t seem to do any solo appearances. WOnder whose watchin those kids while mom and dad go clubbing.
I bet it’s Joe Marco pushin’ to go. I think it’s a combination of his own famewhoring, a total jealousy/possession thing, and money (he probably gets paid too). I think Mel can stand on her own. But he wants to/needs to come.

Betty not at all I saw Tre at book signings, Bethenny at Gary’s WInes in NJ, and many other housewives in the city. I relate to Melissa because she lost her Dad at a young age, and I love the Jersey Shore
I don’t understand the correlation. Many people have lost their fathers at a young age, but they don’t make a deal to bash their in-laws, when given a chance, and on national television. All for what?
They turned out no better than Theresa’s issues with money in the end. They have money owed and they have not paid like they should have. Not a good role model.

Look at the products they show up for. They go to every event they can manage. These people have kids, and mommy and daddy are never home for dinner! Sad.

People talk all the time, about how hard working Teresa is for doing appearances, hawking her books, etc… Why is it so wrong for Melissa and Joey to do the same thing? Personally wouldnt pay for either of them, but I dont begrudge them making money while they are hot enough to command appearance fees… I have heard that some of these minor celebs still make 5k or more in an evening. I have to admit, I would be doing the same, because even if I was making money in my business and on the show, if they get 4 or 5 appearances a month, that equals their Hw paycheck and probably more than they make at their reg job… nice work while you can get it..
Last I checked Teresa doesn’t do appearances every other night. If you look at her schedule she does a book signing pretty much once a month sometimes twice. Even Jacs and Caroline do an appearance once or twice a month. Mego and her midget go on these club and supermarket apperance every five minutes. If they need the money thats fine, but it’s just odd that Mel says her husband works and how they are so wealthy etc. They both seem to have taken these appearances as a full time job. They are saturating the market and cheapening their brand in my opinion.
As someone who owns a now pretty much worthless “Precious Moments” collection, I know exactly what you mean about saturating the market and cheapening their brand. It reminds me of the old saying “How can I miss you if you won’t go away?”
I agree with you. If I had the chance to make some extra easy cash, I would, too. Gorga appearances are nothing major. There’s no newsworthiness to a supermarket opening or a dance club or restaurant. It’ll make the Bergen County media but that’s about it.
There are no Voli Spirit billboards on the west coast and I’ve never once heard a radio station in LA play ‘On Display’. They are ‘local’ celebs to their own neighborhood. That’s it.
I’ve never seen a Voli Spirit billboard on the Turnpike. I wonder if they already took down the one they tweeted about. It may have been the only one. I’ve also never heard her song on the radio. I don’t think they are well known in NJ. I bet most people would think she was Snooki if you tried to explain who she is. They did a dinner appearance in her home town but their other appearances seem to be out of state and not very well attended.
However, PR people PAY the housewives, & the other HW’ are NOT charging fees to their fans! Plus, these two show up at low rent, trashy places. And most without their wanna be fame whore husbands! I just despise them. Joe should actually try working for a living.
The difference between Teresa doing appearances and Melissa/Joey is the simple fact that Teresa doesn’t charge fans to see her. When she makes paid appearances, whatever event is being hosted that night is paying her, not the fans. Melissa and Joey, on the other hand, do appearances by charging fans.
Also, when Teresa was making appearances she didn’t leave her kids at home without a parent. Joe was always with them or they went with her. Melissa and Joey leave their kids 3-4 days out of the week monthly to make appearances.
The issue people seem to be commenting on is that she is away from the family so much, not what she is getting paid, which is a double standard, Tre is a go getter, Mel is away from the kids…Double standard!

I think some of the confusion between Melissa and Teresa is that Teresa’s appearances/book signings are to make money which she need and admits she needs. Melissa is always bragging about how much money they have, or when she is shown lavishly receiving gifts from Joe, or talking about her nanny, she is bragging “we can afford it.” Now she is claiming that she is a working mother and that is why she is leaving her children to make all of these embarrassing “appearances”. So which is it? Are they incredibly wealthy, living large, or do they really need to be at Gelson’s Market in the Dairy section handing out cheese samples?
No. The problem isn’t Teresa leaving the kids OR Melissaleaving the kids. It’s the fact joe gorga tags along so the kids don’t have either parent at home with them. When Teresa works joe giudice is home with the kids. Joe gorga needs to let his wife go to her events withouthim constantly taggingalong. Melissacan’t do anything by herself and I’m sure she’s getting tired of it as well as the kids being tired they don’t have someone around.

Teresa makes appearances and FYI, she doesn’t charge people to see her. But while Teresa is out making money, her husband is at home with the kids. Rarely do we ever see T and Joe making appearances together.

Do you actually think the Gorga kids are left unattended? Home Alone… really? Melissa’s Mother is still alive. So is Joe’s. Also, Melissa has sisters and Kathy. Joe Giudice has no job and no integrity–so he’ll likely never have a job. Can’t anything positive be said for a man–a husband, who accompanies his wife to paid events at nightclubs and other outings where there will likely be drunk men and women and likely some Teresa Giudice brown-nosers ready to start some stuff? Shouldn’t a married man accompany his wife to places where she is going in order to protect her and show support? Isn’t that what married men do? Shouldn’t married men (with kids) have JOBS? Shouldn’t married men (with kids) be out trying to hustle up money any way that they can to take care of their family so that their wife doesn’t have to carry the lion’s share of of the income-making on her petite shoulders? What type of weed are ya’ll smoking in this darn place?
PLUS–Melissa’s kids are under the age of 10; so I’m sure that they are ASLEEP while their parents are away making money to keep a nice roof over their little precious heads–instead of constantly being in COURT costing the taxpayers money! No one on this thread gives a damn about the Gorga kids! They live to hate people they’ll never see in person! (and are secretly in love with… or maybe, it’s just jealousy.)
Obviously the kids aren’t left alone, but the fact of the matter is that they have TWO absentee parents. Period. If Melissa is so concerned about her safety, she shouldn’t make appearances. That simple. Considering she’s a Z-list “celebrity” I highly doubt she needs any “protections.” Teresa, on the other hand, makes appearances by herself. Not with Joe because unlike Joey, he stays home with his kids. Yes, married men should have jobs and it shouldn’t include riding his sister’s coat tail to get on TV and then being permanently attached to his wife’s hip to make appearances.
P.S. Melissa and Joey don’t just go out at night. They leave their kids with her parents and sisters days at a time.

Melissa and Joe Gorga and Kathy and Rich Wakile desparately clawed their way on the show to take FULL advantage of the money and the fame. Now there is absolutley nothing wrong with that, as many housewives use the show as a platform for themselves. Each season women vy to be on Bravo HW. Some get cozy with current Hw’s, others plant stories about themselves, others reach out to Bravo via publicist etc. The reason the Melissa and her midget and to some extent kathy and richie get so much flack is because of their TACTICS. Melissa got in bed with Danielle and knew full well the only reason that Brava wanted her was to bring drama to Teresa. When you intentionally try to bring down your own family for your spot on the top…..you are taken to a higher level of famewhoring. Even the kardashians have loyalty within their family. Melissa acted like she is miss innocent and she is super wealthy and her husband has so much money. The truth of the matter is they invested alot of money on the “appearance” of wealth. Now that they are on the show….their investment has to yield a profit. I think they are just trying to break even at this point. They lived in that “spec” house knowing they would have a ballon payment due, but they also knew that they would eventually be cashing in their bravo schemes soon. They have a ridiculus mortgagement payment every month (after they rushed to refinance) and they have to pay off all the debt they incurred getting themselves on the show. They want to cash in as much as they can and will do any and everything to stay famous….which is sad and pathetic. That is the Mego and Jogo’s new name….SAD and PATHETIC.

I agree with everything you’ve said. All of the housewives try to cash in on their fame and who can fault them for that. What would be the point of exposing your entire life to the world if you weren’t going to get anything out of it? But the one’s that are the most despised are the ones who will chase fame and money at all costs, even abandoning friends and family. The events that lead up to the horrible season 3 reunion weren’t just random events. Melissa and Joe deliberately tried to destroy a family member just to make themselves more famous and that is why most people can’t stand them.

Hey, Melissa isn’t filming another reality tv show across the river–she’s at home everyday (everyday, everyday…). Teresa is the one on tour with her books and filming Celebrity Apprentice. I’m sure she isn’t going home to tuck her girls in every night. She’s probably lapping it up at Trump Tower!
Her CA costars and the Trumps have spoken publicly about how Teresa worked all day for CA and then left in time to get home to make dinner and “tuck in” her kids. Also, many of her book signings are during the day, while the kids are at school. Out of town book signings are one nighters, not very often during a month, and her husband remains at home with their kids while she is away. Also, Joe does work – isn’t her flipping pizzas like a hard-working blue-collar man?

I only read HATE when I see Melissa or Joe Gorga on this blog. I’ll tell you EXACTLY why she (they) keep doing PAID gigs… because they PAY THEIR BILLS! And who cares if they need the money or not! You know who needs the money, Joe Giudice and his wife Teresa! The Gorgas are some smart folks to show up to events and collect a paycheck! Why not? That is ridiculous to not show up and get paid! Why sit at home and not get paid? It’s shocking that anyone would be against a person or couple who is INVITED to host events, actually getting paid to host the events! If they didn’t go to the events, would that make you like them any more? NO! In fact, you’d be on here typing stories about them not paying their bills and being in foreclosure and how they are being sued for nonpayment of bills! At least they have the energy and wherewithall to know when they should get up and go host a darn gig so they can collect while their 15 minutes are still ticking! Where’s the website for chronic cookbook writers and fraudlent mortage document signers/DUI offenders/slum lords? Geesh! I have NEVER read such HATRED in all my days. Slow Joe goes with Melissa because he is being paid as well, and he know he married a gold digger. They both want the fame, any way they can get it. He was in the audtion tape promising to bring the drama if hired. Slow Joe is paid for appearring with Melissa, she just gets top billing.
These two are supposedly rich — if, as she says, she has the life girls dream about, why are they traveling 2-3 times per week to do little gigs for cash. This is precious time spent away from their small children for very small appearances that seem frivolous. Does Joe still go to work every day? Or is their main source of income from these paid gigs and their Bravo paycheck?
And by the way, I see Joe every morning waiting for the bus with Antonia well past 8:30 in the morning. Didn’t Melissa say at some point that he goes to work everyday at 5:00 a.m.? Not anymore, too tired from handing out cheese samples at supermarket openings every night I guess.
