LuAnn De Lesseps Says Carole Borrows Designer Clothing Too!
On Monday’s episode of The Real Housewives of New York, Carole Radziwill confronts LuAnn about asking her friend to borrow a dress. Carole’s friend has dressed people such as Michelle Obama and thought it was rude of LuAnn to ask someone she doesn’t know to borrow a dress. LuAnn is now saying Carole borrows designer clothing as well!
“I heard what Carole had to say about Naeem lending me a dress and I respect her for telling me this to my face (finally) What I don’t understand is why Carole feels she has to protect Ranjana and Naeem who are in business to sell clothing and jewelry to people who want to buy their clothing and jewelry. Carole borrows plenty of designer clothing as we all do for photo shoots and special events but if she doesn’t want me to ask Naeem again, I won’t. While Naeem’s a good designer and I love his dresses, I have many designer friends who are more than happy for me to wear their clothes.”

Luann doesnt get it, it’s not the fact that she borrows clothes it’s just the fact that she tried using a good friend of Carol for her own advantage. I really doubt Luann can call Karl Lagerfeld and ask to borrow a dress she is not at these designers level. I’m sure Ann Taylor or Banana Republic would hook her up though! Haha

If I were a REAL celebrity and found a dress I loved, I doubt I would want to wear it if I found out a reality show HW had already worn it, was seen and possibly photographed in it FIRST. But, then LuAnn thinks she is a real celebrity.

Turned I’m sure Lulu would have jumped on the chance let Carole know that’s not proper etiquette nor very classy. Alex McCord said in her rumor fix article that designers will say yes and some say no. I’m sure naeem would have said no except the fact that Carole is his good friend. I used to love Lulu season one and two but the past few have turned me off. I also can not stand heather. Ramona is just Ramona and I love her I don’t agree how she handles situations at times but she does come from a good place. Carole is my new fave! She is just totally cool! I feel like I could hang out with her and he would treat me the same as anyone of her friends.
Carole is my new favorite too! And I cant stand Heather either!!! LOL! I like Aviva and Sonja. As for Ramona I dont dislike her I just dont like some of her behaviors and choices! Carole really is awesome and I love her!

Luann needs a reality check! Everybody upthread was right in what they had to say! This whackadoo is delusional and I personally think she’s all bent out of shape because Carole is above her in the heirarchy and to realy rub it in people have taken to and adore Carole. Carole doesnt try to pull the “royalty card” like Luann.It makes me uncomfortable watching Luann try to exchange conversation and most of all w/ Carole! I felt like Luann thought her and Carole would be similar and that she could use her as a social climb.But it didnt work out like she thought and all she did was make herself look petty and narcissistic! Like when she tried saying they ran in the same crowd, was surprised they didnt know one another, and “of course I know who Carole is. She’s a princess and you know Im a countess so I know about the royals.” Or something along those lines. Luann needs to get over herself and her stupid need to cling to her “royalty title” Shes so transparent!

Guess what people, THE RED CARPET, AWARDS, GRAMMYS, TONYS ETC ALL THE ACTRESS WEAR BORROWED CLOTHING. JUST ASK RACHEL SHE WILL TELL YOU. And not only that I have know people that are well off that borrow clothing for special events what is the big deal. Men rent tuxs don’t they. Get over yourselves.
That wasnt the point. Carole was well aware of that. It was the self serving way Luann went about it and I persoanlywouldnt do that to a friends close friend. It just seemed so narcasistic and self serving to me!

I totally agree! I don’t think she was doing ANYTHING mean spirited nor taking advantage of the friendship. ALLLLLLL designers want celebs to wear the gorgeous designs and creations they’ve made, and guess what, whether anyone wants to believe it or not, LuAnn IS a known Celebrity! I can see where Carol at first, may have thought, I feel guilty, did I let a friend take advantage of my friends? But as adults we should realize that they also could have said NO!!! And told LuAnn that’s rude or whatever comment. THEY DIDN’T! And from how the way her friend described how things went down she didn’t really seem upset, only Carol did. I’m not bashing Carol but I’m also not going to BASH LUANN either. She does magazine covers, events charities, etc and a designer would love to have her wear them, she’s tall and statuesque. This is a silly thing for people to attack her about!

I applaud Carole for bringing it up to LuAnn. It’s always refreshing when adults can handle things with maturity instead of talking behind people’s backs. I also thought there was something of a misrepresentation in the original story from Naeem’s wife. I do think there is a difference between just asking to borrow a dress and saying, if you’d like to loan me something for a photo shoot–that would be cool.
Ok, maybe there’s not that much of a difference. But I also think LuAnn handled it well when confronted by Carole–hopefully they’ll just both move on.
Carole never said that she didn’t borrow clothing nor that others did the problem was that LULU asked Carole for an introduction to supposedly look at the jewelry line and once she got her foot in the door she asked for clothing. LULU has the manners of a skunk (and she has the meanest eyes ever.)

This wasn’t a big deal, IMO. Even Alex- who HATES LuAnn- gave her a pass on this one. It’s something that is done. Though the Housewives are C-Listers, they do borrow clothes, even from “real” designers. So it isn’t as out there as Carole would have us believe.

This designner does not dtess the low-level reality people. His designs are geared for the upper crust. But, being the gentleman he is, he reluctantly agreed to loan LuAnn a dress. He thought she was a friend of his close friend Care. Typical LuAnn. Takes advantage and is a user. Thete are designers that avoid her and some who do ssy no to her. She is not all that. She is broke,her xhubby always had her on tight budget, he cancelled the lease on NY apt, and only gave her Hampton home, very dated and in need of renovations. She always used her hw friends to pick up meal, entertainment tabs (Bethany/surfing) LuAnn is not in the WEALTHY circle of NY. She is a joke and barely toletated. Just because Bravo paints a certain picture, we know it is usually opposite the real life situation. And her “countess” title is not and has not, impressed any super powers in the US. The title is incorrect and her x is even looked on as a bit of a joke in the US and elsewhere. (google and wiki this)

Are you kidding me, Lu Ann was not wrong for asking to borrow the dress. Let’s break it down. Carole sent LuAnn to them! LuAnn paid for the jewelry she got from her friend. After they hung for hours and had tequilla shots together (idk about you, but I dont usually do shots with someone I do not care for, and I bet they’ve never done a shot with Michelle Obama: and speaking of self importance, they talk about him dressing Michelle Obama as much as LuAnn calls herself the countess). Her friend even said she felt that it all happened very organically. And it wasnt as if she asked to borrow a dress to go out for drinks, she was wearing it in Life and Style magazine. I dont care who you have dressed, having a dress pictured in Life and Style is nothing to shake a stick at. Carole should have ended the discussion with her friend when she told her they had a nice time and it all happened very organically. Everything past that, Carole was just wanting to humiliate LuAnn. She seems a little too focused on the Countess if you ask me. It seems odd to me for someone who claims to be so laid back.
IA! I’m baffled by the criticism LuAnn is getting for this. It’s not uncommon (or inappropriate IMO) for celebs to do this, exactly like LuAnn did. And the designer gets exposure from the her being featured in the magazine, so it’s a win-win for everyone.
