Kathy Wakile Talks Pool Party Drama!
Kathy Wakile discusses Sunday’s episode of RHONJ and talks about the barbecue. Kathy also explains Richie’s comments and admits she didn’t really like what Joe Giudice had to say about her!
“Now for my thoughts on this week’s episode. By the way, watching this play back is never that easy, especially because it is family. As you all know, we did live through this a year ago and most of our emotions have settled down since then, so it’s always difficult to watch when everything is churned up again. The other difficulty is to have to listen to what is being said about you when you are not around. I will admit and take responsibility, as I have in the past, for anything that I have said to hurt anyone’s feelings. While I’m not making excuses for myself or Richie’s comments, I can honestly say that they were not said to maliciously hurt anyone. We say things out of anger and frustration. We are human, and our emotions do get the best of us at times. In all fairness though, when I hear juvenile comments about me and Rich I feel hurt just like anyone else.
When Richie and I were discussing the events of the solstice party, I was giving my opinion about the comments Teresa made to her brother Joey about Melissa. Whatever her motivation was, whether she felt she was justified or not, my feelings are that she was wrong to say that to her brother. Again, that’s my opinion and I’m entitled to have one. I felt that it was a toxic statement that would serve no purpose other than to be hurtful. As you noticed I stayed out of that entire conversation and kept my opinion to myself where
Teresa was concerned. I did not want to get involved because, as we all know, anything that I approach Teresa with gets taken the wrong way. I had made a conscious decision at the BLK launch party to try to mend our relationship. I don’t know exactly what Teresa is going through, and I don’t want to add another set of opinions to her plate that would overwhelm her, and quite frankly she would clearly not listen to them anyway.
Richie, on the other hand, has had enough of seeing me continuously try to give Teresa the benefit of the doubt and make excuses for her comments and actions. Keep in mind that I’ve been doing this for years, way before we joined the show. I would make excuses for her actions because I felt she didn’t know any better and I would try to help her see another point of view. Richie has seen my hurt and disappointment time after time where Teresa is concerned, and like any loving and protective husband he’s fed up. His comments come from frustration. I will admit they are often over-the-top, but that’s just Richie. One of the most wonderful qualities that Richie has is to be able to assess a situation, and whether it’s in the form of a joke or a serious answer, he comes up with a solution. When he’s joking you have to know it, because it’s so ridiculous and sarcastic. But when he’s serious it’s logical and it’s a solution that will help everyone involved. He has the ability to see the big picture and the end result before anyone else even thinks about it. You’ve already seen that illustrated very profoundly this season.
I
wish I could say the same about some of the other negative and adolescent comments that were made in this episode. Well at least now I know where the tweets about me looking like a frog came from. Ribbit! Ha! Ha! I thought that was pretty funny actually. A frog has big eyes and so do I. Ha! Ha! But just to quote one of my favorites, “Baby, I was born this way!” I’m glad Richie loves my big eyes. The other comments, however, not so funny. Teresa must have thought they were all pretty hysterical as well, because I didn’t see her interrupting Joe when he was way out of line.
I thought that the pool party that I throw every year for my kids and their friends would be the perfect way for everyone to get together and have some fun. Focusing on our kids enjoying the simple pleasures of summer would be a great way to remember what it’s like to be a kid again and enjoy fun times with your cousins. As it turned out there weren’t that many of Victoria or Joseph’s classmates there. I had no idea Richie told them not to invite that many kids. In retrospect it was just as well.
I’m glad that at least one person got the idea. I can always count on Rosie to be the BIG SPLASH of the party! Did you see how all the kids were scurrying to get out of the pool? Rosie’s expression after she surfaced was priceless! Obviously, very pleased with their reaction!
I tried to encourage Teresa to come and join the group, not to rehash or talk about anything deep, just to enjoy the kids along with us. I love watching the kids all play together while I’m with the adults. I like to call it collective joy! The energy is almost palpable. You can’t help but feel the love. That was my intention for the day, and I only wish that it could have lasted.
As you all saw, Joey was feeling nostalgic for how fun things used to be, and thought it would be a perfect time to have a little one-on-one talk with Teresa. I hope you all noticed his tone and how he started by saying, “It’s all positive.” That’s when all at once they were taken back to a happier time and then there was the brother and sister exchange that was really sweet. I really think that’s when it hit Teresa. Yes, I will agree it must be so exhausting to have arguing and fighting constantly going on, among the other things in life. Joey remained calm and tried to explain his feelings. It’s very sad that Teresa couldn’t understand what he was saying and the talk started to get combative. Teresa started to get defensive and started to bring up things that were irrelevant. The bottom line is that in order for a resolution to be successful, both parties have to accept responsibility for their actions. At this point it’s not a matter of who did what to whom. It’s more important to recognize each other’s feelings. Isn’t that what relationships are about? I guess you can imagine my disappointment that another attempt to have reconciliation had gone sour. I was so sad that the day had to come to such an abrupt ending.
I have to admit the best thing that happened that day was when Richie suggested to Joe Gorga that he and Teresa seek therapy to help them communicate constructively. It may not be traditionally how old school families solve their differences, and Richie is as old school as they come. He wasn’t even born in this country. My husband is so fed up with all this drama he feels it’s time to call in the professionals. It’s sure worth a shot since family and friends have been unsuccessful. What do you think? Will they agree to it? You’ll just have to keep watching to see if they take Richie’s advice.
Talking about feelings brings me to Jacqueline and Ashley. Watching them interact can be so tough sometimes. I was especially moved when I saw them both on Skype. You can feel the closeness and how much they love each other. I guess it’s true what they say that absence does make the heart grow fonder. In this case, it looks like what they need was just a little distance from their everyday.
Happy anniversary Caroline and Albert! All I can say is did you all see the way Big Al looks at Caroline when he talks to her? His eyes and smile say it all. They’ve worked hard together over the years, and it’s very endearing to see them tickling on the couch. That’s the definition of success. Enjoy the Jag, Caroline, it’s a beauty!”
I’ve said that Joe Giudice and Richie Wakile are both alike and Kathy proved it to me in this blog! Kathy says that Richie has seen her hurt and disappointed and is protective and fed up. So his comments come from frustration. That’s exactly how Joe Giudice probably feels meaning his unnecessary comments also come from frustration for the same exact reason! So when I say the two are alike, that’s exactly what I mean! Kathy is upset that Joe Giudice made comments about her and that Teresa didn’t defend her when 1. Teresa didn’t say a word 2. She didn’t encourage it and 3. Kathy just defended her husband for saying horrible things about Teresa. Listen whether its a joke or not, some of them are not funny. For him to say that he doesn’t want his children’s friends to know their related to the Giudices while having a straight face is hurtful! But I’ll be clear I hate more than anything when someone especially a man pick on someone for their appearance! Not cool at all. If i was Teresa I would get fed up and it should only be a joke if the person that’s getting made fun of is laughing too! Kathy is right. They need to both take responsibility and move on. That’s the only way it’ll work out between them. If I was Teresa I would just move on with my life and when next season comes on, I’d stop going to the same places as these people. They don’t like her. They make fun of her and who wants to be around people like that? Thoughts on Kathy’s blog?

Kathy defends and justifies Richard then slams Joe for the exact same thing! I can assure everyone, if my Mr. had seen me treated a fraction of the way Teresa has been treated? He’d make Joe Guidice look like a saint!

As far as the worst brother in the world… JoeHo calling himself an angel from God makes him look more narcissistic than ever before. An angel from God?? Haaaaa! More like a DEMON FROM HELL!!!!! When Tre asked her douchebag brother what has she done wrong… What did he say? Nothing! He blames Tre for everything, but what about what he and his wife did? Joe Gorga needs therapy. He has delusions of grandeur and hallucinations. He needs psychiatric help ASAP and medication. How the heck says they are an angel from God to their sister on national TV. He berates her. He bullies to try to apologize and then say he is never wrong because you he is ,”An angel from God.”
He needs real help. Mental help and possible commitment for a time.

They ganged up on Danielle the same EXACT way. Caroline used the exact same words and stradegy with Danielle.. She got away with it then bc Danielle WAS off her rocker and did something crazy to validate their hate each week.. That is not the case with Teresa.
Really? What person in their right minds would take away lessons from any of these housewives?? They are all in denial of their flaws and not one of them has the ability to self-reflect.
The only lesson I would take away is from Tre for getting through her hard times without making a complete spectacle of herself. Even with the cameras rolling, Bravo had to use news clippings and chatter from the others to piece together what was going on.

— I heard a rumour MeHo did an appearance at Chris Michaels’ bar the other night. This bar is owned by none other than her former employer at Lookers Chris Kontos who also happened to supply her with those “pay slips” to prove she was a bar girl when all the stripper rumours surfaced. I wonder why she wasnt paid for her appearance at Chris Michael’s bar? Anyone? Anyone? Okay I’ll tell you. She made a deal with Chris if he gave her those pay slips then she would make free appearances at any bars he owns. Win win for him because it gives his bars free advertising and exposure and she can continue to live her lie of a life.
It’s not a rumor that she appeared there..she posted that she would be there via Twitter! I tend to believe that the reasons listed for her being there are most likely true also!
I am so over Richie Wakile. He primed the pump for this argument with his conversation with Joe Gorga, telling him that Teresa does not even love his children. That was in Joe Gorga’s mind, it was not from love, it was a confrontation pumped up and primed by Richie. Teresa was smart enough to resist Kathy’s urging to talk it out. What is wrong with these people thinking parties and in front of cameras is the place to talk shit out? Anyone urging a serious family reconciliation would not urge it in front of all the kids and the cameras.
And MS Melissa’s little “I’m not high maintenance” dig was not missed. But Teresa let it slide because she had better manners than Melissa, who seemed to be orgasming with joy at the final split between brother and sister.
It is this type of programming which keeps me off Bravo on Sunday nights. really ticked off that this crap has ruined the show.

Funny how Kathie apologies briefly for saying hurtful things, but they won’t accept Teresa’s many apologies. I have nothing against boob jobs, lip plumpers, lipo and all of that- but if you require plastic surgery & a makeup artist you are high maintenance. Both Teresa and Melissa have had boob jobs and have makeup artists. The difference is Teresa actually admits she’s high maintenance. Melissa, you name dropped designer labels that you bought last year, you had your husband build you a recording studio in the basement, YOU said you were spoiled, you are unemployed but have 2 nannies- YOU ARE AS HIGH MAINTENANCE AS THEY COME!

I’m so over Kathy making excuses for Richie being an asshole. Why is it that when Richie says horrible things about Teresa, it’s just his personality, but when Teresa says horrible things about Kathy and/or Richie, she’s a bitch? Kathy never corrects Richie when he badmouths Teresa so I’m not sure why she thinks Teresa should do that when Joe talks about her. Hypocrisy at its finest.
Did anyone stop to think that Joe Giudice is fed up with his wife being attacked every time she leaves the house? The thing about this show is that everyone wants you to understand THEIR feelings, but they don’t want to try and understand anyone else’s.

However, the RHONJ casts definition of both parties accepting responsibility really means Teresa and Teresa alone. I absolutely think Teresa has been out of line and petty in many ways regarding Melissa and her brother, however, they’ve done her wrong, as well. All three of them share the blame of how broken their relationship is. Why isn’t cousin Kathy calling on those two to accept responsibility for what they’ve done to Teresa?
Exactly, on top of which, Teresa has apologized for her part, repeatedly and most recently in inTouch. I have yet to hear of any apologies or ownership for this situation to come from either the Gorgas or the Wakiles. All they do is dismiss Teresa’s apologies as insincere and take no accountability. Also I guess Kathy endorses Joeys repeated use of profanity to her face and the fact he makes cry. All I can say is how would she like it if the same thing happened to her daughter?

I thought of the movie Grease when Sandy is hurt by Danny and Frenchie says….. Men are fleas men are amoeba’s on fleas. I think my husband would say something similar about each person who was hurting me to try and get me to feel better. Theresa kind of made a face like she didn’t want to hear it though and wanted some sound opinions. I get the same way…… with my husband.

Joe Gorga came on the show to derail Teresa to bring her down. They love that all the ladies are not on her side. I think that he under estimated how loved Teresa is. how many fans she has. By them all hating on her. She is being loved even More.
Btw, yes teresa and brother Joe can have personell talks without going back to the spouses, that is normal. And her telling her brother to watch out for melissa there is nothing worng wth that. who starts a singing career at the age of 30 something with 3 kids. that is not a serious italian wife. They say there are old school then Old school italian wifes stay at home. This is why Joe follows Meliissa where ever she goes.

I’m with you. I have the SIL from hell too and she acts just like Melissa. I went to my SIL’s housewarming party only a few days after having throat surgery and she cried to my brother because I didn’t spend time talking to her. I couldn’t talk. I was too sick to go, but made the effort because she was my SIL. She got my brother riled up and we haven’t been the same since. I see alot of this kind of behavior in Melissa…the passive aggressive shit starter who has turned everyone against Tre. Tre has not always been on best behavior, but I can tell you from experience that you get sick of being blamed for everything and you start to lash out after a while. All I have to say that in an italian family, it’s very odd for your in laws not to like you if you are from italian descent. Melissa’s relationship with Tre’s parents is very telling.
There is one issue for which Kathy owes Teresa a huge apology, and that is how she and M came onto the show. I realize that they cannot discuss this on the air, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen! I don’t think Kathy was involved in contacting Danielle, but she has clearly benefited from M and J’s awful betrayal.
Kathy, if you read these comments (I suspect that all of you do) understand that even though you cannot apologize specifically for this, you could have T’s back when she’s being ridiculed by her “friends.” Why can’t all of you just accept that she does not like Melissa and she has very good reason not to. It doesn’t mean that you have to dislike Melissa, but STAY OUT OF IT.
You, Richie, Caroline and Jacqueline are fully aware of melissas behind the scenes machinations to get on this show. And you also know that T is hamstrung in defending herself in these arguments because she cannot discuss the real reasons for her resentment. So stop taking advantage of that!!!
Also, I thought Joe Giudices’ comments about you were out of line. But Richies were as well. I think they are both reacting to their wives being hurt.

Plus, even from a cynical point, if she had been fair and taken Teresa’s side or at least tried to reason with the others who were attacking her, Kathy would have won fans and made the show much more interesting to watch. Currently it’s just a heart-breakingly sad attempted take down of a person. When 2 equally armed, vain, self-absorbed, UNrelated wenches argue on these shows about some silly issue, I admit, it’s kind of funny to watch and a guilty pleasure. But that’s not what this is. It’s really not entertaining watching 4 ppl get off on trying to break a person, their own family member, no less.
I agree that Kathy is squandering a golden opportunity to gain fans, but more importantly, to be a better person.
When I read all of the dirt that is swirling around Melissa, I have to wonder if Bravo will give her the “Teresa Treatment” next season. They have to realize that people are not going to stay tuned for this much longer. As it is, I do not watch the show any longer, but I do read the recaps and blogs. I don’t see myself doing that for another season. I’ll just wait for T to get her own show. I think she could pull off a hell of a cooking show!
I feel like Teresa is the only one not playing to the cameras. The Wakiles take an annual tradition end of school bbq for their kids and use it for a back-drop for drama so they can get in on a storyline? Why did they invite her if there was even a clue it could be drama? FAKE! All of them will need therapy when this is over and no one is without fault.
Plus, why are they acting so shocked over T’s behavior? They knew she didn’t like Melissa, but you came on the show anyway and NOW you want to act surprised when there is fighting? FAKE!
I have to say i disagree with you. I feel joe giudice was talking to his wife, out of hurt and he wasn’t playing it for the cameras (like Richie). imagine how hurtful it’d be to see your wife’s family betray her? i actually love Joe Giudice after this episode b/c with all they’re putting Teresa through, they deserve it. don’t you think Joe sees what they’re doing to her? don’t you think HE prefered also, when it was friends, and not family ganging up on his wife?
He more than sees it, he has to live with it on a day to day basis. We see some little clips put together. No one can possibly imaging what we don’t see? If anything he has shown amazing restraint sure he mouths off, show me a husband who cares about his wife and family and I’ll show you man who defends them.

I love juicy too. I always have despise his flaws. I actually feel sorry for him because he has to sit back and watch his wife getting stabbed in the back. To make matters worse every time he tries to fight back Teresa stops him.
T is just frustrated and that is why she doesn’t communicate well and get her point out clearly. It is very hard to argue w/ a lier. Her brother is so caught up w/ the cameras, he thinks him and his skank wife are going to be the next Brad and Angelina.

IA! The funniest part is this… Had Kathy came on the show.. developed her TV personality. Stayed out of the fighting, backstabbing, kept her husband OFF the show and been herself she would have been a fan favorite. But instead she is ACTING and her husband is her co-star in this drama script they are playing out. She and Melissa both have ruined their chance to be anything other than Teresas vndictive in laws and cousins who came on her show to destroy her.

Seriously. 2 years ago I had no idea that Teresa had a cousin who was married to an ugly version of Jeff Goldblum, who would go to parties and rudely announce “let’s burn that bitch at the stake” & talk about her nonstop. Richie, if you don’t want your children’s friends to be aware that you are related to the Giudices (who your children’s friends only know from tv) don’t go on a tv show that they have been appearing on for 2 years. Hello, she is in a contract with Bravo! Bravo makes them spend time with each other and meet up to film. That’s true for all the housewives’ shows. They don’t take vacations together unless Bravo pays for it and films it. That’s just part of doing the show. So, don’t get mad at Teresa for being forced by her boss (Bravo) to spend time with co-workers (MeGo, Joey, Kathy, Richie, Jac, and Caro) she doesn’t like; she’s not choosing to hang out with them, she has to spend time with them to be filmed as a part of her job so she can get her paycheck.

You know that saying: when you point a finger at someone else, you are pointing 3 back at yourself. They all accuse T. of what they are guilty of themselves. The entire cast of this show lives in a perpetual state of denial of their own actions. This was filmed some time ago, but hopefully T. now realizes she is NOT going to change any of their minds about her and stop trying to. All Joey concentrates on is “T, you need to fall” – yeah, he is definitely the worst brother ever.
“Fall” right – how much further does he want her to fall? She already hit rock bottom and climbed and worked her way back to if not the top, close to it! Say what you want about Teresa, but she’s no wimp. That woman is made of tough stuff.
