Joe Giudice Trial Date To Be Set This Month
RHONJ’s Teresa Giudice’s husband Joe Giudice has been in court for fraudulently obtaining a driver’s license under his brother Pete’s identity. Joe has rejected a plea deal of five years in prison and has decided to stand trial instead.
The date was supposed to be announced on October 1, 2012 but the judge postponed it until October 29 for no announced reason. Joe and his attorney will be in court on the 29th to hear the date for the trial, where Joe can face up to 10 years in prison if found guilty. Miles Feinstein, Joe’s lawyer, believes that Joe should be eligible for probation because he never had prior convictions and is having a more difficult time because of his notorious celebrity status, so they will be going to trial.
I hope for the sake of his children that Joe’s lawyer is right with his assumptions in the case, however, he still did the crime and will have to face the consequences of that. Do you think Joe will get away with just probation, or will he be given jail time?

Melissa does not allegedly have some petty theft thing in Florida. She actually DOES have an open warrant for her arrest for failure to appear in court for charges of GRAND LARCENY. I’m not making excuses for either one of them. They both did something wrong and they both have to take their punishments like adults. However, in Joe’s case the punishment is potentially exccessive and that is something that Americans are Constitutionally protected against in accordance with the Eight Amendment.
Oh and by the way, I think the word you are looking for is “petit”, not “petty”.

I think 10 years is entirely too harsh. Hell, I think a year is harsh. I’d say 30-60 days in the county jail, community service and fines.
Hi Friend. I totally agree with you. Since it’s his first offense it will probably be closer to 30 days with a giant fine, but I’m sure Teresa will have plenty of magazine covers (“My Life Without Joe,” “Juicy Goes to Jail,” etc.) to cover the cost.

I think Juicy is a hoot! Love that he refuses to cooperate with RHONJ and does not do the talking head interviews. He makes me laugh – when he and Tre are in the car and he said he will even throw his own parents out of the house if they come over. Total venting on his part and I can’t blame him. Even going back to season 1 of RHONJ this guy has had legal problems. The 11 mil. bankruptcy, the dwi’s and the fake license. The guy is nothing more than a hood. 10 years in the slammer may be excessive but a year or two is appropriate. It was a crime of fraud.
Getting back to that bankruptcy. Teresa said that she knew nothing about it but let’s go back to season 1 when she was shopping for furniture for her “french chateau home”..Remember that she pulled out her wad of money and paid cash? Who does that?

As for Joe and other women..when he made that call from the vineyard, we hear him telling the person on the other end(in English) that they were celebrating Caroline’s b’day. When Teresa went over there, he told her that the person who he was speaking with didn’t speak English (and his face was full of guilt). Paying cash is not a crime.. Thats whats wrong with America now. Basing your life on a credit score and living off credit cards. Parents teach their college students to build credit via credit cards.. whats the point? Youre basicly teaching your children how to be in debt for teh rest of their lives. I grew up old school like Teresa im sure.. My parents didnt believe in credit cards and loans. If you cant afford to pay cash, you dont need it! The ONLY exception is for your home. I see nothing wrong with that.
Clearly they believe in living off credit and loans, otherwise they would not have filed for Bankruptcy. Paying cash is certainly not a crime, but I don’t think they were paying cash because of their “old school” upbringing. I’m sure your parents didn’t teach it was OK to flaunt cash around while you still owed money. I’m first generatation too, and in my community you don’t throw around cash or flaunt your “fancy ways” while you owe even a dollar to your neighbor. The old school way, mortgage, car loans, maybe a loan for big household purchases or emergency situations, but you don’t rely on credit to make yourself look “bigger” than everyone else.

I dunno, I think what he did, if he did it, was wrong, but I think that all perpetrators of non-violent crimes should be eligible and seriously considered for probation/community service/fines/etc. instead of jail time, especially for a first offense like this, and especially if they are a celebrity. Think about it, why should taxpayer dollars go to keep an already rich celebrity in jail? Unless they hurt or killed someone, have them pay out the ass for their crime and use that money to fund our jails instead. I just don’t believe in jail time for first-time, non-violent criminals at all. Our jails are overcrowded enough and everyday some small-time non-violent criminal gets beaten to a pulp because he was housed in the same conditions as a murderer or rapist. I could care less about Joe or Teresa but come on. Ten years max. sentence seems a bit excessive. Even the five year plea bargain would have been too much.
Not that Joe Giudice is rich per se, but that there are better ways to punish celebrities than putting them in jail so taxpayers can foot the bill for their room and board through the duration of their sentence.
