Caroline Manzo Doesn’t Think Joe Giudice Meant To Be Hurtful With His Comment On Greg Bennett!
Caroline Manzo blogged and talks about the celebration between her brother Jamie and his partner Richie. Caroline also says she doesn’t think Joe Giudice meant to be hurtful with his comment about Greg.
“I liked this episode — not too much nonsense, lots of laughs, and good times. Hopefully this is the start of something good. Wishful thinking on my part? Time will tell.
I give Rosie so much credit for sitting Joseph and Victoria down and discussing her sexuality. The easy road would have been for her to have Kathy speak to the kids and be done with it. I love that she asked them if they had any questions. She gave them the opportunity to be open and honest with her, and Joseph’s question was priceless, absolutely adorable. Bravo to Rosie, well done.
When Joe and Melissa were in the warehouse you saw Melissa in true form. She is constantly on, acting out scenes from Disney movies, singing, and dancing. Joe just watches and smiles, letting her do her thing. Cute, very cute.
Chicago was a whirlwind trip, hastily planned, and so much fun. My brother Jaime and his partner Rich have been together for a long time, and it was so nice to finally see them happy and at peace. I had so much on my mind that weekend, and I was trying desperately not to let the negative feelings I was having ruin my brothers special day. Hey, I even wore a hat with a flower saucily tilted on my head like a proper English lady!
Let’s talk about Joe Giudice and the remark he made to Greg on the bus. I’m probably going to get crucified for this, but I don’t think he meant it with malice. Now understand that I think the remark was awful and in the poorest of taste, but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, he’s like a kid, he just blurts things out regardless of how it hurts. Yes, he is a 40-year-old man, and yes he should know better, but when he said that he immediately took it back and apologized. Over the past few seasons he has made numerous gay slurs, and there’s no denying that there’s an issue there, but in this instance I think he was making a poor attempt to be funny. Call me crazy, but that’s the way I feel. On the other hand, I also meant what I said about him being a shell of the man I met a few years ago. The Joe I remember was fun, carefree. I truly believe that back then he didn’t need more than a good cigar, a bottle of homemade wine, and his family and friends around him to be happy. The guy could live in a cardboard box and be happy. Something changed along the way, and he’s become bitter, guarded. Sad, we all miss the old Joe. I’m not saying this for brownie points, or to be politically correct. I mean this sincerely.”
In no way do I think Joe Giudice should have made that comment about Greg. It wasn’t funny and anyone who thinks it was is also in my opinion, in the wrong. However, I agree with Caroline and don’t think Giudice meant any harm when he said it. Do you think Joe Giudice meant to be hurtful or funny when talking to Greg?

I find it extremely odd that you and many anti-Teresa rhonj fans constantly refer to Teresa as stupid when she is 1 of the 2 people on the show that has a bachelors degree, the other being Melissa. The cast members often discuss her intelligence as well when all they have are high school diplomas. IRONIC!!!
There is something to that old saying that a person is “street smart” and Teresa has none of it while the other women are right on top of things. Book learning & a degree doesn’t necessarily make you smart. I must admit I find it shockingly surprising to hear that Teresa even has a college degree. Teresa isn’t the brightest bulb I’ve seen and I would have guess that the furthest Teresa went in school was grade school & possibly (doubt that even)middle school. Every episode I sit and just shake my head at the dumb things Teresa says and how little she knows. This is the first time I’ve seen anyone with a college degree be that dumb. As the girls get older it’s going to be very embarrassing for her daughters. Sometimes I think even Gia thinks her mom is dumb.

And once for actually discovering and splitting a gene w/ a world renowned Heart Transplant Dr. From Pittsburgh. She was given the honor of presenting her discovery at a seminar in Texas where she was awarded the lead Tech of the year from not only U.S but around the world! Also yes I am bragging she was 1 of 12 people in the World that can run 1 of the 6 robots that are used for genetics. All befor she was 25 yrs old. All done bragging. LOL! Point is she has no common sense. If you ask her to do a common task as running a lawnmower(example) she would be clueless. Or any simple question she comes up with the silliest answer. So do I think Teresa is smart? You bet! Lived it, breathed w/ my daughter and guess what at the end of the day she acts like everyone else. Exactly. Personally, I think Joe Guidice is probably a huge jerk, the way he talks to everybody including his wife and children. However, it really looks like the Manzos are determined to make everything into an awkward situation. If they have a problem with him or Teresa, they should confront them. Instead, they never say anything directly but they make it obvious that they’re not welcome and nobody wants them there. I give Teresa credit for trying to act like an adult and trying and trying when the Manzos can’t stop acting like little pouting kids.
And I think he would be the first one to put an end to REAL gay bashing. THAT isthe way he comes accross to me. I hope I am right about this one. He is not acting like the others-he needs to stop drinking!!

Without even getting into the intention behind Juicy’s comment, I want to pose two scenarios here because I think Caroline’s blog is (like herself – as usual) full of shit:
1. Since the Field Day Debacle, it appears that the tides may be turning over in Bravo’s editing room and Caroline is starting to look BAD. They are including every nasty, bitter, horrible, acidic comment she has to say about Teresa. And Gia. To me, this blog REEKS of back-peddling. Because she can already see that Bravo is starting to show her in a less than flattering light. Hence, DAMAGE CONTROL.
2. Might it be possible that Caroline is forgiving of Joe’s comment because if you watch the scene, right next to him laughing along at the comment is her own brother, Chris Laurita?

I think Caroline let Joe off the hook for a few reasons:
1. Her ” good friend” Lisa Lampanelli said something very similar right around the time Caroline was kissing her ass hard.
2. Men are always right (and never need to lose weight). Danny whathisface is the only man I think we’ve ever seen her go after and even then, she mostly blamed Danielle for his behavior.
3. It’s yet another way to bash Teresa. “Oh, yes, he’s acting like an ass, but it’s not his fault! It’s that terrible wife of his and everything SHE has put him through! ” Remember Mel and JoeGo have said this too – the only reason Juicy hates them is because TERESA puts “ideas” in his head and is pulling his strings.

Growing up in Jersey the ‘f’ word wasn’t nearly as loaded as it is now, and I am Teresa & Joe’s age. It wasn’t a polite term, but the word itself wasn’t given that much power. Now it represents so much more.
Joe’s use of the term was out of ignorance, not out of hate as Andy can’t stop accusing him of.
Personally I think Caroline is the most hateful person of them all. And in my book that is the most dangerous kind of person.

Because they none of them treat is as natural and normal. They all had to talk about how they are okay with people being gay. It was not Caro’s brother’s wedding it was Caro’s brother’s GAY wedding.
That said, I think what people say is less important than what they do. Caroline goes and spends time on notorious homophobic bigot Sean Hannity’s talk show. Hannity has been supporter of anti-gay leaders who went to Uganda to promote the anti-gay bigotry that has lead to proposals for execution of people for being gay. She hangs out with someone like that and calls him a friend. She has raised money for anti-gay political figures and calls them friends, including the felon Bernie Kerik. So – she is willing to speak about supporting her gay brother, but her actions support the politics and people who would criminalize and stigmatize and discriminate against him. I guess he deserves her love, but not political rights and political equality.

HOLY SHIZA. Thank you for saying this! I’ve tried to avoid saying this kind of thing too much because I don’t want to turn a discussion about silly housewives into a political debate. HOWEVER, I’ve always thought it was strange that no one calls Caroline on this. (Andy Cohen? Greggy? Bueller?) She LOVES to talk about her conservative creds – sometimes without even being asked. Do ppl not see the GIANT contradiction here? Is this woman REALLY the big gay advocate she claims to be?? The republican party in general and en masse and officially is NOT for gay marriage; in fact, they’ve done everything they can to squash it. No matter where you fall on the political spectrum, you have to admit that’s just a FACT. Yes, there are a FEW ppl in the party willing to break ranks. Yes, I suppose there are ppl from both sides who vote with their party even though they disagree with SOME planks in their platform. However, as a party, all over the country they’ve tried to strangle gay marriage in the crib, again – FACT. So, Caroline with a gay brother, a gay boss ( Andy Cohen ) a gay play ( Big Fat Gay Wedding ) and so much of her reputation staked on her pro gay creds, you’d think she’d at least come out with a little statement like – ” Yes, I vote republican, BUT I think they’re WRONG on this one issue.” OR just stop talking about how proudly conservative she is all the time.
Between this and how she just defended Joe Giudice’s comment about Greggy ( not saying I agree or disagree, but Greggy was definitely PISSED ) you have to wonder if Greggy’s support of her is nothing more than an effort to STAY ON THE SHOW. I agree, though I didn’t want to make it about being Republican, there are pro-gay Republicans. Heck, there are gay Republicans. But the association with Sean Hannity is going past being conservative. Sean Hannity is an extremist anti-gay homophobe who is a member of the notorious The Family fundamentalist organization – the group that is considered responsible for pushing the anti-gay agenda abroad, particularly in Uganda. Even without that association, his promotion of anti-gay hatred and bigotry would make a loyal sister consider him out of bounds.
