EXCLUSIVE: Caroline Manzo And Teresa Giudice Accused Of Not Supporting Cancer Child Without Getting Appearance Fee; Teresa Responds!

October 22, 2012 | By | 61 Replies Continue Reading

Earlier today, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Caroline Manzo and Teresa Giudice were both accused of not supporting a young boy with cancer without getting an appearance fee. The NYDN reported that Prudential Reality’s Lyndhurst and Rutherford officers are hosting a Halloween party and will raise funds for Christopher DiMartino, who has been suffering from cancer since the age of 3 but can’t afford his chemotherapy.

From NY Daily News:
Salvatore Scirica, the real estate salesman hosting the dinner, thought to bring in “The Real Housewives” stars to attract more donors. After all, the DiMartinos had relied on Manzo’s family before: In 2009, they held a fundraiser at the Brownstone, the restaurant co-owned by Caroline’s husband, Albert, and featured on the Bravo show.

Scirica asked Metropolis Nights editor Chaunce Hayden to reach out to Manzo and Guidice. Both requests were ignored by the reality stars. “It was crickets,” Hayden told Confidenti@l. When he asked a mutual friend for an explanation, Hayden got the hard truth. “They don’t do anything anymore unless they are getting paid,” the mutual friend told Hayden. “End of story.”

A spokesperson for Caroline said she has never been contacted by these people while Teresa Giudice tells AllAboutTRH EXCLUSIVELY that she has has not been contacted about this specific event for Christopher DiMartino.

Teresa recently went to two events in Rhode Island for breast cancer and wasn’t paid an appearance fee. Teresa tells AllAboutTRH that she does many charities when she could and it’s all for free. Teresa says it’s important she can help out anyone in anyway that she can and she tries to go to every event or benefit that will help regardless of her busy schedule of parenting her 4 children and working on her business. Although she is busy, she would do anything to help and it has always been that way. Teresa says it’s “sad” that she would be accused of this when she hasn’t even been contacted.

  1. Joanna says:

People just can’t stop talking about Teresa Giudice!
    She’s a star!

    • Say What?? says:

Just one more person using Teresas name to get ahead. this one is a low blow using a sick kid to bring attention to their fundraiser.

I would love to have Teresa support my fundraiser as well. Doesnt mean she has to or that i have the right to release dirty stories about her for refusing.

Teresa Giudice, if you dont by candy bars from my kids I will tell everyone youre heartless!

  2. September24 says:

I am disgusted by the person(s) who took this story public. They are the ones who are bullies.

    • michers says:

Its sad, but I have heard of businesses doing that to garner publicity in the hopes of anyone stepping up to make the appearance . Some people will take what publicity they can take, business is business for them! I don’t believe that about T, and even though I have been mad at Big Red for 2 seasons, I do not think she would be that way either.

      • IRiSHMaFIA says:

Even if they wanted a fee to cover their own expenses of travel or accommodation, I don’t think that’s a bad thing to request if they are giving of their time, their name to bring in a lot of donors.

Frankly I don’t know how Teresa does all that she does with 4 girls!! Her own children and husband should come first and no one should criticize her for not always being able to say yes to their requests.

        • michers says:

True Irish! I do not know how she does it all, but I respect her hustle! And yes, I can understand at least getting travel and accommodations covered!

      • renee says:

I agree. I think both ladies caroline included would not turn away that kind of need for any child unless they had prior commitments. I am not a fan of caroline at all but she is a mother and has done charity events that we know of to help out kids. People who do that wouldn’t turn away this one kid. It’s unfair of this person to come out with a story like this because it seems like anyone can say anything and in the end it disparages a person’s reputation. Hopefully this story gets squelched and if not then I would threaten legal action if thats the case. Not cool to do to Teresa or Caroline.

      • Margie says:

“big” red. Remember Michers, she’s “always been tiny” lol

      • Annah says:

Maybe Melissa will step up so she can say, ‘See, I AM better than Teresa.’

      • Kendrick says:

lmao. same here abt big red

  3. DebV says:

Is this the same family that had the fundraiser when Danielle brought her posse with her to the Brownstone?

I think it is pretty low of someone asking someone to do them a favor to bring this story to the press. Seems as if they are using this story to garner sympathy for their cause and thereby increase donors.

I feel for this family on many levels.

    • Lily says:

      Yes! Same people

    • DebV says:

I just read this again and it seems as if a person that is a “mutual friend” (friend of whom?) was the one saying they don’t do appearances without a fee. Why would NYDN even print this story since there was no official word from either Caroline or Teresa. Now I am convinced that this is nothing more than a ploy to get people to support their needs. Hope this child gets the treatment he needs. Find it hard to believe that New Jersey does not have any services to help critically ill children.

      • Alicia says:

1.Nj has some of the best hospitals in the entire country 2. Yes, they do have services to help critically injured children”… Do you even know what this child is diagnosed with? What cancer it is? Come on use some intelligence

        • sue says:

Why wouldnt they ask Ladybug foundation to help, its for childhood cancer. Im sure Brownstone donated the event filmed for these people a few years ago.

        • DebV says:

I really detest people like you Alicia that come at people like they have no common sense. I didn’t ask if New Jersey had adequate tertiary facilities to handle cancer treatment. I asked if New Jersey had any services, not facilities, to provide care to children who are in need of care but the family can not afford to pay. Use your intelligence by replying in a more respectful manner.

    • Heather says:

No, on another site, someone mentioned that was for a little girl, Emanuela:

“Chris Stilianessis, the father of the infant with the rare form of cancer featured on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, is speaking out against Danielle Staub and her entourage’s behavior at the benefit for his sick child at the Brownstone.”

I found that quote from a starcasm article online published June 1, 2010.

      • DebV says:

        Thanks Lily & Heather!

      • jerseygirl says:

Sooo, the kid’s family has been raising money for over two years? That doesn’t seem right. And they are using the names of Jersey housewives to generate press, again? I smell a rat.

Maybe Chris and Jacqueline are taking notes so they can exploit their sick child even more to raise money to fund their lavish lifestyle!

        • Heather says:

I feel confused because I don’t remember seeing this family “DiMartino” mentioned in the article appearing on the show, so I wonder if anyone else does. Were there two benefits for specific cancer-stricken children at the Brownstone shown within the same time-frame on the show? The only one I remember being featured on the show was the one where Danielle attended and it was not for a sick little boy named Christopher.

I remember Dina did a fundraiser for her ladybug charity, but I thought that was a general thing? and from what I read online:

“The $10 donation at the door as well as all proceeds from services received went directly to Project Ladybug! ”

I feel very confused and don’t believe anything this article is stating.

          • Cara says:

It’s not the same child/family/charity. The quote from the article says that a previous event was held at The Brownstone which is featured on the show. Not that the charity or the family had been featured on the show. It’s worded strangely so I can see how it would be misleading.

“In 2009, they held a fundraiser at the Brownstone, the restaurant co-owned by Caroline’s husband, Albert, and featured on the Bravo show.”

They were referring to The Brownstone being featured on the show, not the charity and not the family. Entirely different people altogether.

        • glass city says:

Jac to busy to take notes, she spends all her time on twitter blasting Tre or setting up secret recordings to actually take notes of anything that she should really concern herself with.

  4. rhfan says:

Sorry, Tre and Caro. Not sure if I believe either of you.

There’s probably more to the story, but I tend to believe that they just didn’t respond to the request.

Good luck to little boy and his family.

  5. IRiSHMaFIA says:

What would be so wrong if they got paid, or if their expenses were covered? I’m sure that if they lend their name to every charity they are invited to that it would take away from their own responsibilities. I don’t have a problem with them being compensated in some way. The fact Teresa has given of her time for free to be supportive to charities is a generous gesture.

I’ve been to charitable events held at church organisations that bring in very well known speakers or musical groups. Those people are well paid to appear, as well as their finances and accommodations covered.

How is that any different than the people who run charities who get paid to do that job?

I get that it’s lovely to do be in a position where one can give of all their time and talents with nothing in return but a warm heart, but that isn’t always financially possible for people who need to earn a living to do.

I wonder if we’ll ever get a week where someone isn’t attacking Teresa? Probably not.

    • Bionic says:

The fact is the funds raised at these “charity events” really don’t all go to the beneficiary. It’s scraps what the benfactor gets after everyone has taken the cut for their “hard work”. LAMES!

    • Just sayin says:

I am a fan of the show and mostly of Teresa, but there is something wrong IMO if they expect to get paid for any of this as the money is to help PAY FOR a little boy who needs it for chemo treatments. Also, there are no traveling expenses as they live nearby. I suspect they didn’t answer because they probably get hundreds of such requests and didn’t realize this was a legitimate request.

  6. etta says:

I believe the ladies.I find it hard to believe either were contacted.Seems like a good way to boost attendance at this fund raiser if you ask me.

  7. jewishevileye says:

This is a no brainer for me because there is no way in hell Teresa or Caroline would ask for money from a tiny charity. I don’t care whether you’re #TeamCaroline or #TeamTeresa, if you follow them at all you know their both decent caring women and probably the only genuine women on rhonj. Jac and Melissa certainly aren’r honorable and in fact are scum. Melissa may have cost Caroline season 5 by instigatin&g with her delusions of Teresa. Kathy is a fake now too. Its very sad but I’m confident both Caroline and Teresa would have at least responded. Sorry but this story had MARCO written all over it as the mutual friend. Disgusting as usual. I’m Team #Caroline and #Teresa and staying that way,

    • Lapband Lauren says:

I agree with you that caroline and tre are the most big hearted out of the group and i’m pretty sure if they were aware they would help. Teresa cant go back and fourth doing a million things and still juggle four young daughters. But she still does take the time to help charities especially Nephcure. People putting out stories like this is just plain disgusting

    • Heather says:

      Jewishevileye, I agree 100%!

    • moonshine says:

Thank Goodness someone else like me, who’s for both Teresa and Caroline. I also don’t believe these two women would not help a child.

      • hannavas says:

I’m not team Caroline, but I still believe she would do a charity event to help a sick kid. Without a doubt Teresa would. It could all be a misunderstanding, maybe the request never reached them. I think if they couldn’t make it, they would just respond that they had a previous engagement and possibly send a donation instead.

    • Glasshalffull says:

jewishevileye – You are so right about Melissa manipulating Caroline and instigating things. Melissa is probably sitting back laughing at them. I don’t think Caroline will ever admit to this, and therefore will continue to lie about how nice and sweet (please) she thinks Melissa is. Come on, I really don’t think Caroline is dumb and can’t see through Melissa but she just won’t give Teresa the benefit of the doubt. I loved when Andy and Caroline were laughing at Melissa when she was screaming she is the victim. I really hate Melissa. Hate is a strong word, but I really do hate Melissa, she ruined the show.

This show really makes me shake my head. Like when Teresa expressed her opinion about Lauren being too young to get a Lapband they jumped all over her, called her a hater on twitter. Teresa said her Lapband story in People was not a positive story since she is too young to take the easy way out and get a Lapband. Bethenny said the same thing on her talk show when Lauren and Caroline were on her show. Poor Bethenny, I guess she is on their shit list now too. Lauren should watch herself she seems to be turning to booze. I think there was some kind of study that said people with these kind of procedures tend to switch from one vice (food)to another (booze).

Sadly, for health reasons, I will not be able to watch this show next season if Bravo rewards Meho and JoeGo’s vile ways and bringing them back for Season 5.

    • glass city says:

A desant caring woman would not refer to her friend as a febus. No one instigated Caroline she was blinded by jelousy. Caroline would only respond if it hadsomething to do with throwing Teresa under the bus. there is nothing honorable about her, she is scum with lipstick on.

  8. holy cannoli says:

This really unfair for this Event for this child to say this when Caroline and Teresa were never contacted.

Neither one of these ladies, nor any of these ladies from NJ( or any of the HW franchises) would do this. In my opinion.

Shame on these people for putting this out there.

  9. Heather says:

    Chaunce Hayden ?@ChaunceHayden 23 Sep

@melissagorga Melissa.. Support NJ nightlife… Do the cover of Metropolis Nights Nov issue…please ;)

    Chaunce Hayden ?@ChaunceHayden 10 Oct

@KathyWakile Rosie was amazing tonight! Your sister is going to be a star.

He’s also friends with the owner of Posh Boutique (according to Melissa- the “good” one, not the “bad” one) and in his twitter photos, he has uploaded an unflattering mock magazine cover with a bizarre picture of Teresa (with the date Nov 2012…) on the cover with the headlines: “Have the pressures of fame and family fighting made Teresa Giudice ummm… not herself?” with an “Exclusive” by Rosie.

He flatters Melissa, is friends with the owner of Posh Boutique (who Melissa and Kathy promote heavily), put Kathy on the cover of his official May 2012 edition, is friends with Kathy’s friend duo: Heather + Uncle Cliffy, adores Rosie… creates a fake cover bashing Teresa while simultaneously coaxing Melissa to pose for the legit one…

Who do you believe the mutual friend was and do you believe what the source claims?

    • Ms. Torres says:

Yes! I agree you should definitely forward this to Teresa and Caroline.

    • NYGirl says:

Great job Heather. Maybe the Hooker’s planning next season’s storyline. She, Stump, Crazy Eyes, Bucky and Rosie the Butch are goona take dem Manzos down. Lol!

      • Glasshalffull says:

No way, I don’t think Messy would stab anybody in the back, lol. I was thinking the same thing, she going after the Manzos. Karma. Messy is getting real cocky. Did you see how Caroline didn’t have the time of day for Messy’s sister Lysa on Twitter when Lysa was drunk on twitting the words to the song “Baby Got Back” to Caro? What a fool Lysa is. Although, I do think Messy’s kids are better off with Lysa, she seems to have/want to spend time with them.

        • glass city says:

I thought I saw Meho Marco sister on last weeks episode of Jersey Shore, could be wrong it sure looked like one of them skank sisters in a white bathing suit or whatever the hell she had on. My son was watching and I just happened to look up and see her, had to do a doubletake but it sure looked like one of them trashbags.

  10. LifeIsGood says:

Wow! Great detective work! You should forward this to T and Caroline.

    • Heather says:

It’s disgusting, at the heart of the issue is a very sick little boy who needs serious support- not underhanded, manipulative PR. I hope he receives the care he needs at this very difficult time in his very young life.

    • holy cannoli says:

      I agree @ LifeisGood

Heather should forward this to Teresa and Caroline. Or maybe contact Rox and she can. Anyway I think they need to know this.

      Good job @ Heather

  11. maria says:

they should have asked Melissa that chick is craving spotlight like crazy, Im sure she would have been there in a second with her little man.

  12. housewifehater says:

HMMM-something very fishy here! And from what I remember, the money that the little boy received last time DID NOT go for chemo or medicine. It went for “alternative”-therapy. Something NOT paid-for by medical insurance.
I don’t feel like doing the research again, but I remember being worried the last time when I thought that a child in NJ would have to go begging for medical treatment. Maybe he does need chemo-(I hope not), but if he needs medicine, in NJ at least, I know that there are programs that make it free or affordable for families.

  13. julie says:

I think these ppl are not being truthful…..

  14. Victoria Veney says:

I call BS these people should be ashamed for putting a story out like this without even confirming it with either one of the ladies. With everything that played out this season and the way it ended with the reuion we all have been upset with Caroline for her actions toward T but at the end of the day niether one of these ladies would ever just blow a sick child with special needs or illness off!! T has helped alot of charities and so has Caroline and I cant see these two exspecially asking for money from a sick child and it being so close to home too. I also agree with the other bloger’s to also I dont see a problem with them getting thier accomadation paid for if it was away from home cause they also have families they have to think about so that wouldn’t be a problem for me either but to say they turned them down cause they wasn’t gettin paid is just disgusting!! This has Marco’s sisters and Melissa all over it or maybe Jac even but shame shame on the people who published this BS!! I feel sorry for the lil boy and I hope he get his treatment he needs T or Caroline would never do something like this it’s a shame.

  15. Jarlath says:

    Why wasn’t Melissa invited!

  16. Heather says:

Teresa issued a formal response on her website.

  17. sana says:

lol C is wearing this same dress in this article “Jacqueline Laurita Reveals That Dina Manzo Hasn’t Acknowledged Her Son; Dina Responds!” I wonder what they do with the money!!!!

  18. madamedummy says:

bozochucky realizes she’s been ‘played’ by MeHo & will try to make ‘fwendies’ with teresa now to stay on the show ..
    a ‘wittle wate’ ….

  19. Jeanie_Bombace (@J_Bomb507) says:

I call B.S on this story. Some non-existent “Mutual Friend” says this, so it’s the Gospel truth? I don’t believe that Teresa or Caroline (who I can’t stand) would do such a thing.

  20. Just sayin says:

this is not really on topic but it is a Manzo story, probably not new to most here but figured I would post the link in case anyone missed it. It tells the whole story of the Manzo Passiac County coruption.

what happened to albie manzos girlfriend lindsey? has anyone seen any info on this?
