Basketball Wives: Jennifer Williams Explains Why She Filed A Lawsuit

April 26, 2012 | By | 31 Replies Continue Reading

On a recent episode of Basketball Wives, Evelyn’s assistant Nia slapped Jennifer Williams in the face. Jennifer has since filed a lawsuit against her and explains why on her blog!

Jennifer says, “And the BS continues… I honestly could not stomach to watch last week’s episode. I had lived through the craziness and to relive it was just too much for me. But I would like to clarify a few things.

First up, I never had an issue with “the assistant” up until that day. At one point, we were good friends. We went out together, went to dinner, stayed at each other’s houses and shared plenty of good times and laughs.

There had been some incidents leading up to why I started pulling away from the friendship but I don’t feel the need to blast that information. However, the most important reason why I eased up on the friendship is because she started working for someone who refers to themselves as my “enemy.”

To me being good friends would just cause the situation to be messy so I rather fall back. No love lost and I like I said, I didn’t have any issue with her until she put her hands on me.
Ok now let’s get to the foolery… AGAIN!!!

I just find it so unfortunate someone I once called a friend has no respect for me and felt the need to violent me physically. So of course after you completely disrespect me by putting your hands on me, my mouth is going to get reckless.

I am not happy for the things I said to her but I was caught off guard and left in a vulnerable state. The 2-bedroom apartment comment got taken way out of context. I live in a 2-bedroom apartment so why would I look down on her for that.

My point was don’t act like I lived with you when you live in a 2 bedroom apartment with a roommate. There would be no room for me and all my stuff that barely fits in my 2-bedroom apartment in NJ.

The whole attack against me was pointless. Okay, we aren’t friends no need to fight about it let’s all be mature adults and move on. People come into your life for a reason, season or a lifetime. I wish it didn’t have to be this way, it makes me sad but that is life.

I did what I felt was right by filing a police report and having my attorneys handling the situation. I am an entrepreneur and a mature adult. Who fights at this age? I was taught to let the authorities handle criminals.

Having graduated with a degree in Political Science and a concentration in Pre-Law, I am fully aware of my legal rights and the justice system. If you put your hands on someone, there will be repercussions. End of story…

For the record, I have changed. I am striving to be an independent woman and I am building a future for myself. I have zero time or tolerance for BS. I am not sitting around waiting for a man to take care of me. Lucid is 100% mine; I built it from the ground up. No licensing deal or I am a paid spokes model. I don’t sit around and knock what my cast mates are trying to do business wise.Be a leader and not a follower, no one was thinking about the cosmetic industry until way after Lucid. At the end of the day, I find it all unfortunate that I am the constant topic when it comes to hate and no one can uplift one another.

Fame has never been a weakness of mine but by watching this show I can’t say the same for all the ladies. I just hope everyone can recognize what is really important in this life because Basketball Wives will not always be the HOT thing… Then what???

Special thank you to my legal team, Corey Boddie, Sanford Rubenstein and Sabrina Puglisi also my publicist, Elizabeth Traub and my manager, Deanna Morales. And thank you to all my family and friends who have been so supportive of me during all this craziness. I cannot forget my loyal viewers, much love.”

Nice of Jennifer to take responsibility for what she said. She made great points. Do you think Jen should drop the lawsuit?

Nooooo, people need to learn in this age and time we cannot put our hands on someone and walk Scott free, so go girl teach the slapping assistant a lesson.

    • Say What?? says:

Agree. She should move forward with the law suit. Eve and Shaunie are still trying to bully her over it. They are the ones leaking stories about producers being unhappy when the only producer unhappy is Shaunie. VH1 hasnt made any offical comment on it at all. I bet they cancel the show.

    • Buck Henry says:

The reason why they are mad at her is because she is getting on movies and other things and Shanice who brought them together is just that O’niells ex wife pure and simple. She hates her because of jealousy and so does Evelyn.

    • Mego the lying stripper says:

I saw that episode, and I do not blame her.

  2. MissVIgyal says:

Jen i wouldnt even explain yourself. You need to stand up to the bullying. Eve made similar comments to Royce calling her a bum and that she dressed like crap last season but now that its against her friend she has to cry and act like a lunatic? I would run from this show and move on to bigger and better things.

    • free kroy says:

You are so right. I forgot about that. Eve is always talking down on other ladies regarding materialistic items. Even this season, she rode the hell out of Kenya about her apperance. So, Jenn can not do the same. Get over yourself Eve. I was upset with Jen for filing the lawsuite because she has ganged up on people in the past also. But, people do grow and after seeing the show air, I can see how she realizes that some of the things that she has done are wrong.

  3. meldog says:

No, at least not now, and why should she? Maybe if she got an apology from Nia, Ev, Shaunie and Tami for treating her like shit.

  4. Comeonnow says:

Ok let’s me clear here. If Jenn and Evelyn was still friends, she would be co-signing on every single thing Evelyn does. If they were still friends, she would be reckless at the mouth PERIOD because she was evenlyn tough. Jenn has not changed, she just doesn’t have the protection that she once had.

Ya’ll could believe her if you want to. Bottom line is Jenn was as much of a bully last year just without getting physical. So do I think she should’ve filed a police report? No.

    • Tenisha says:

I completely agree. When she had Evelyn in her corner she was as mean as Ev. Now that she has no protection she’s above it all. I don’t feel any sympathy for her after her performance last year. But I think all the violence needs to stop.

    • Say What?? says:

Last year no one was hit.. Jen was smacked in her face. They are encouraged to drink and argue to bring the drama.. but i believe and eve brought Nia in just to hit Jen.. Because Jen served all of them with papers.. everyone but Nia..

      • Andrea says:

        I agree with Say What???

Dumb ass Nia was bought in to do what Evelyn wouldn’t, because she knew that Jennifer was going to sue. She told them via her attorney. So why act like your surprised?

And the amount of proud ignorance these woman so gleefully display. Evelyn “Where I’m from you take you ass whopphing and keep going” Really??? Where they do that at? Nia, “she told me to slap her so I did.” Really, well I’m telling you, stop following Evelyn cause she ain’t go help you do none of the time, nor pay any of the money. So I guess if you were told to kill someone you would do that also. Dumb ass. Let me tell you something that my mother told me, if your parents don’t teach you the lessons you need to know when you’re a child at home, the judge will teach these lessons in court. So Nia, and everyone who uses violence to settles your issues, happy learning. How hard is for adults to verbalize their feelings.?

    • Obvious says:

But she’s not friends with ev so everything you just said is a non factor. Jen never put her hand on anyone in all of the seasons, so you can’t try someone on what ifs or woulda, coulda, shoulda, you can only try a person on the here and now and the fact of the matter is, Jen didn’t do anything physical. Therefore, she has every right to press charges and I hope they all learn from this experience here on out.

    • Kim says:

The fact is that Jen and Eve are not friends anymore…. This is what Jen is trying to explain that she has matured and moved on…. I think Jen was tired of these antics from these trashy ho’s and moved on.

I’m all for Jen pressing charges… It is NOT right for anyone to lay a hand on anyone… PERIOD….. Nia wants to play with the big dogs well news flash this is how the big dogs play….

    • karen says:

Good point, Jen was just as much of a bully as Eve when they were friends. Jen is no angel.

      • Marcus says:

And that means what? Even during Jen’s “mean girl” days, she never took an argument to a physical level.

        • Storm says:

Evilyn is an animal…she has no control over her baser emotions. If any one needs anger management therapy, she is a prime candidate!

  5. Robert says:

Jennifer is a better woman than Shaunie, Evelyn, Tami, Suzie, or Royce. She did a classy thing by filing a lawsuit instead of slapping Evelyn’s assistant in the face. Nia was in the wrong for doing that to Jennifer.

    • Say What?? says:

I wouldnt say Jen is better than Royce. The others.. yea.. but not Royce. Royce was bullied from season 1 and stood her ground without backing down. She also didnt make fun of people the way Jen did. She is a better person than all the other girls.

      • Tee says:

I agree…plus if you read Royce’s blog she agrees with Jennifer’s lawsuit and charges and has a valid reason why. The rest need to get over this violence and drama. It’s terrible that that is the only way they seem to be able to settle disagreements. The majority of the time its over “oh you don’t like me”. I had those disagreements in ELEMENTARY! I definitley don’t think that Jennifer is an angel..and I also think she’s purposely using this situation to make Nia an example (bc she filed no charges against Eric when he threw water in her face, and she filed no charges against Eve when she hit her in the back of her head with a handbag). I think she’s doing this bc Nia is the lesser of the 3 evils which gives her the opportunity to make her an example. I’ve always said that if someone did to me what Nia did to Jen I would do the same thing Jen is doing…the only thing I don’t agree with is why she’s doing it now when she’s had opportunities to press charges on other people? Overall though I hope Jen learns from this as well and can stop being such a bitch in her own right. Hopefully the other girls learn from it too that violence is not the answer. These women need help…most, not all.

  6. Raine says:

Yes she talked a lot of smack last season when she was friends with Evelyn, but Jennifer NEVER physically assaulted anyone. Talk is cheap! People can say whatever the hell they want. But once you cross that line from talking smack to actually physically attacking someone, that’s a whole other ballgame. Jen was right to take it to the courts. These women need to learn a hard lesson. And what better way to do that than to sue. It’s the american way!

  7. Mylia Saa says:

Go jenn!! she should sue those bullies.. Shaunie is very devious and manipulative. She did set jenn up by having nia there since she got that the letter.

    • Mego the lying stripper says:

Are any of these used up hags actually married to a basketball player? Except for the one who is so psychotic that she renews her vows every year in an elaborate fashion and has been married three times before?

  8. IMO says:

I really couldn’t care less how Jennifer decided to handle the situation. I do NOT, however, appreciate nor agree with her comment regarding how she decided to handle it like “white people do”. I find that comment to be ignorant and inappropriate. That is definitely not how all white people handle being slapped so please, Jennifer, THINK before you open your mouth.

  9. RahRah says:

I don’t understand why Ev did not explain what Jenn is saying to Nia..since Ev and Jenn are enemies why does Nia think Jenn wants to be friends with her? Is it because Nia is bat-crap crazy?

  10. Annna says:

I think the only way Jennifer is any better than them is that she doesn’t fight & that’s only because she CAN’T. She’s partaken in the same things in past seasons, but now that she’s on the receiving end, she’s decided to “rise above it.” I’m not saying people can’t change and mature but I don’t believe she decided to change just because. She has every right to file a lawsuit since she was physically assaulted, but in the past when there was violence she didn’t seem to have any objections. I don’t see how being on this show will help her sell lucid, besides the free publicity but the negativity seems to outshine anything positive they’re doing.

    • Storm says:

I didn’t know that physically abusing anyone was a prerequisite to being on this show? Is this a reality show or the WWE? Jen has never “partaken” to any of the shit that Evilyn has done..she may have laughed and smirked when Evilyn was being the animal that she is, but one of the things you did not say is….Jen has never been physically abusive to anyone, yet Evilyn thinks it is okay to hit, throw anything at hand and verbally abuse everyone she wants…that is the difference between Jen & Evilyn!

Evilyn is a rabid animal and needs to be put down!

      • Tee says:

Didn’t one of these ladies throw a drink in some girl’s face for Jennifer…or in defense of Jennifer, on a previous season? i didn’t see Jennifer saying anything apologetic about that or saying she wished it never happened to the girl or anything. Jennifer can’t fight…and if she could maybe she would have gotten up and defended herself with her hands as would any of these other crazy women. If she planned to fight all domestic issues with lawsuits and charges then why did she take a fighting class? So the next time one of them women raise there hands to her she may actually be able to defend herself. I don’t disagree with the lawsuit overall…but there are a lot of other factors I do disagree with.

  11. Mego the lying Stripper says:

Women hitting women is disgusting. Nobody has the right to lay a hand on you. I’m glad she is sueing. Maybe these classless bitches will think twice about hitting each other. So ghetto.

  12. ajaii says:

Jen is a Class Act , She does not need to explain the ” 2 bedroom ” comment to anyone , like Kesha told that skank Evelyn , once she got hit she had the right to say ANYTHING she wanted.

Jen along with Royce are the only 2 cast members that are respectable and authentic.

Kesha I want to say but not sure , Kenya is cool but crazy.

  14. Janice Monte says:

This show is getting so disgusting that I’m officially done with it. When Tami suckerpunched Meaka in Italy last year, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Did she follow through with her lawsuit? I hope so. Why are these 40ish ladies wailing on each other? It’s nasty. I also can’t stand watching that know-it-all Tami. She treats others like crap. Nothing but a bunch of skanky lowlifes. Money has nothing to do with class.
