Andy Cohen Says He Treats Every Housewife Equally!
Jill Zarin recently appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen where she called him out for favoring housewives! Jill told Andy that he favored Bethenny over her and when Andy asked to give an example, Jill responded, “Was she at your launch party when none of the other housewives were?” Andy shot back and said, “she’s not a housewife anymore.” Jill added, “Do you go to dinner with Bethenny?” Andy answered honestly and said he has.
After the episode aired with Andy and Jill, Andy took to twitter to defend himself regarding whether he favors any housewives. Andy wrote, “I go to great lengths to treat the Housewives equally so I was anxious to hear why Jill felt like I chose sides w/ she & Bethenny. #WWHL”

This is why Jill needs to come back and why Andy will never let her, he wants to give viewers a contrived story where he picks the villains and victims regardless of the real reality. He does play favorites. He is responsible for the treatment of the Guidice children on air (being bullied and punished by the Manzos and Lauritas), for creating the NJ stripper story lines and then blaming it on Teresa, for allowing a producer to feed inside information to the Manzos, for serving up vile people who happen to be gay and allowing them to get away with anything because they are gay irrespective if they are right, for setting up Russel Armstrong as a villain leading to his death, for allowing Tamra Barney to get physical with Jeana Keough (assault and battery) and not allowing anyone to address it, why he allowed Jill to be the bad guy although crazy drunk Ramona is more confrontational and Bethanny was in the wrong for how she used the Zarins until she did not need them. If you watched Bethannys show you saw a self absorbed woman who uses other people and then throws them away, her latest attackee is Jason, her husband. Lets not forget Andy rounding up his talk show posse, Anderson Cooper, Wendy Williams, and Kelly Ripa to do his dirty work to pressure people into cut rate contracts. Bottom you do show favoritism and as big as some of the losers have been on the show, Andy you are the biggest loser of all.

Agree, wonderfully expressed and its what most of us see as well I think. One thing I disagree with however is Jill/ Ramona, not just because I like Ramona! I used to like Jill too but I saw her develop into a cliche mean girl before my eyes! Now IDK if the Bethenny drama/jealousy had anything to do with that but I was disappointed. Jill was supposed to be Ramona’s friend for 15 years and to me, it seemed as though she targeted Ramona, just as others on this franchise have done up to recently. Im sure that is with Bravo’s consent and direction though. If Jill had any real substance she would not have allowed herself to become the token Bravo shit stirrer. Just my thoughts! I think he favors certain housewives but then bravo as a whole (producers) do as well. Sometimes it’s more subtle, sometimes more obvious. Take the entire RHONJ reunion. Teresa was blasted on everything including legal woes. It’s well known that Albert Manzo, the Lauritas and Gorgas are all going thru legal issues as well, yet none were brought up – except Teresa & Joe’s. When Andy has HWs on WWHL, sometimes he asks tough questions and then with others he’s illusive.

I agree that at the end of the day it is all about money for Bravo, but Bravo is just a group of people, very human people and all of us like certain people and don’t like others. I don’t know that Teresa made her legal woes her storyline. I think Bravo chose that and Teresa, being in a real finanacial bind, had no choice but to go along. Bravo could have very easily shot a scene where someone was reading about Al’s or Jac’s legal problems, like they did with Teresa. But they chose not to do.
I do believe that if you are on one of these shows and a problem is publicly disclosed, Bravo is in their right to raise it on the show. And the target could choose whether to continue with the show or resign. But Bravo has not taken this more principled approach with the NJ hos. Teresa is fair game, but the rest of them are given the courtesy of keeping embarrassing details off the show. I don’t see how they can avoid the accusation of disparate treatment given their storyline choices.

First, I want to say that I absolutely think good ol’ AC plays favorites and it’s most obvious in RHONJ and RHONY.
Regarding Bravo filming any of the HWs legal issues, if you notice they don’t really film the legal discussions or proceedings or even allow them to be brought up, except for Tre and Sonja Morgan. Not standing up for Bravo, but I believe none of the other HWs discussed their legal probs in mags while the issues were still in dispute. I am sure their lawyers advise/advised against it. I don’t know why Tre & Sonja would discuss their legal probs in the media, but since they did, Bravo could use it as a storyline without lawyers saying their filming would compromise their case since the ladies already discussed it in public.
That being said, Bravo and good ‘ol AC do play favorites.
jar, I completely agree. Her hands were tied. She thought by pleading to her fam and friends on the show to stay mum, then maybe it would not have been addressed on tv. To answer questions in the mag, when you HAVE to do some press because of the show, again was binding her to do it. Answer some questions and them making their on spin of it are different beasts. Why are they given courtesy I wonder? Do they think they are helping her ( Bravo) or are they trying to humiliate her? I would love Andy and Bravo to tell us WHY the others do not have their dirty laundry hung out!
The producers do have alot to do with it, if they get a whif of something juicy, they pounce but if you look at the credits he is listed as an “executive producer” so he does have the input weather or not to use certain story lines….. Just like Jill said she came to him with certain story lines and they didn’t work out for the show!!!!! He even said I told you I don’t think this is a good idea, but you wanted to do it, and so it is. In Teresa’s case Andy had beef with the way she just brushed off the gay slurs her husband says and he didn’t like that so what ever the other ladies had on her was gonna be on the show weather she wanted it to or not, he wanted drama and the ratings so he got them….BTW Jaqueline foiled the ending for season four because she wouldn’t keep her trap closed, after Melissa’s handler “producer” go to close and told them what was gonna happen….When Jaq said she found out about the set up 2 weeks before it happend they knew they couldn’t lay blame on Teresa.

Teresas legal problems were making headlines before it became known on the show. Melissa Gorga was contacting TMZ and giving them the details on Teresas financial problems. TMZ showed up at court with cameras… Melissa has been behind this crap the entire time. Kim G and Daneille were taking the blame but it was Melissa Gorga.. Teresas very own “FAMILY” that was throwing her under the bus and smiling to her face.

I know Season 3-4 of NJ had some funny stuff going on with Jacks Melissa & Joe ALL hanging out & emailing “CAT RODRIGUEZ” Lead Production she was emailing, drinking, dinners & I do feel that is not a fair playing field….Enjoy!
But don’t ya think they had no idea it was going to backfire as it did — her following increased when people like ME who didn’t particular like Teresa before began to take her side because of the pile-on and ridiculous and obvious jealousy of her successes; also, Teresa did seem to make some personal changes and became more appealing. They underestimated the viewers who had pretty much had enough of the bullying and said so!!
I think she made personal changes as well which led to her gaining notoriety. I expressed before that yes, she has changed somewhat but for the better! She has used this show as a platform as intended! She worked on personal growth( controlling her anger better), business opportunities, and still manages to give her daughters a routine of school , sports, gymnastics, etc, like a lot of others Mommies out there. So happy for her!
I definitely feel as if Bravo didn’t fully grasp Teresa’s charisma when they signed her on. Little Andy wanted to create the world of NJ and a breakout personality was supposed to be his domain/decision. I feel the first person who became jealous of Teresa was Andy himself and that is why bravo finally brought on second rate wannabe-gorgas onto the show.
They wanted to rub Teresa’s nose into something that would rile her reactions. He cannot stand the fact that Juicy is his own man, right or wrong he isn’t Andy’s tool. He’s only doing the show for Teresa, and frankly what he may have to do for jail time has been amplified because of her celebrity. Shame on Bravo for their bloody hands in that.
Kathie Bug Eyes, was so obviously trying to keep a spot on next season by tearing at Teresa, she and her nasty uncouth husband are a perfect example of hanger ons. Teresa calls it jealous, but i think it is this hitching onto her popularity that she really means. Not one of the women on the panel on this reunion, would be able to withstand the position she is in.
Annapolis- your right about Andy’s favoritism. To me, it’s as clear as day that he doesn’t like Teresa. If he liked her, we would’ve never known Katfish and MEho. He brought on her family to bring drama, but all they brought were family issues that no one wanted to hear or see.
I think that having favorites is inevitable, but I can’t see him letting that interfere with what is pulling in viewers.
Andy probably dislikes Teresa for the same reason everybody else does — because she’s a raging bitch. I can easily imagine her hounding and nagging him in the exact same way that Zarin did. She probably screams and rages at Andy Cohen no differently than she does the rest of her cast members.
On top of that, she’s got her “fan club” devoting large chunks of their time to badmouthing him online and nagging him on Twitter, which there should really be some kind of all-time stupidity prize for.

You’ve said it best Renee. I’ve suspected the same for a while. The greater the bashing the greater Tre’s success & guess what….the badgers get it now. Hence the attempts at saving face. 2 late as far as I’m concerned. They are never 2 be trusted again. However, Tre’s got her mind on the money & the money on her mind, so let us not be surprised if she does the sing-a-long next season & make nice. Tre is Mama Bear. She & her cubs will survive, at any cost….& guess what….she’d forgive all of them. That’s Tre.

I love Juicy, Tony Montana, Barney Rubble, Popeye…..oh my! He’s the comedy break in the show. Love him or hate him, Juicy was the most loyal of them all w/ Tre tailing close behind. I’m team Patti but definitely a fan of Juicy Joe! Ha! Comical!
I guess I was the only one who heard him ask Jacqueline about her and Chris’ business bankruptcy and using business planes for private trips, etc. on this last reunion. It would be hard not to play favorites–we all do.
Professionals don’t have a hard time not playing favorites. And if there is a risk of that happening, you pull back on any personal contact you have with people who may skew your objectivity. It is something a professional should be quite mindful of, especially in a context like the ho shows. To cite a clearer example, no likes a teacher who plays favorties. We think that is unfair to the kids, unless our child is being favored.
Andy did mention the Lauritas problems in passing, but he did not ask a follow-up question. He clearly was not interested in getting into their dirt. However, he would not allow Juicy to deflect (like Jac did) when he said, talk to my lawyer. No, Andy persisted, even going so far as to blather on, “In a post-9/11 world, this is a serious charge…” As if embezzling $55 million is nothing. How about saying, “In a post-Madoff world, serious financial fraud and theft are serious crimes in the eyes of the public.”
But I’m sure Andy appreciates your agreement that he was fair in his treatment of both parties. Hell, he’ll probably cite it so he can fall asleep at night.

Who had heard of Andy Cohen before RH? No one outside of the industry. He was a tv producer who wanted to be on tv. This show launched his popularity. LOL!!! No wonder he understands Melissa Gorga! LOL!!

I have to give Jill a hat tip for taping the entire proceedings. I might have done the same thing, given Bravo’s ability (and apparent tendency) to cut and paste its shows to present a certain narrative regardless of the facts. But, of course, Jill had to overplay her hand (will she never learn?) by shopping it around. She couldn’t just keep it in her hip pocket in case the interview was unfairly edited. If they kept out something explosive because it showed Bravo in a bad light, she should have simply posted it on Youtube or something like that. Instead, she had to try to extend her 15 minutes yet again by trying to shop it to some media outlet that could give her more camera time.
Andy isn’t so bad on WWHL but he definitely needs to be replaced as the reunion host, too bias. Maybe they should replace him w/Jeff Lewis..

Andy absolutely does favor certain housewives over others. In the case of the New Jersey franchise, I am convinced that he goes after Teresa more than the others is because of the gay issue. Caroline, Jacqueline and Kathy all have gay relatives. Melissa and Joey Marco have connections (allegedly) as well. Andy has had it out for Teresa and Juicy since the middle of Season 1, even though it wasn’t Teresa that made the comments, he considered her guilty by association. Never mind that Kathy’s husband has made similar F word comments.
I think Andy and the rest of the Bravo team thinks loyal fans are not smart enough to figure things out on their own. The “great lengths” he goes to obviously are not very great and are so transparent that even a vision impaired individual can see right through it.
Andy, if you don’t show favoritism, pls feel free to ask Melissa about her shoplifting arrest in Florida.
Of course Andy plays favorites and I have only watched RHOC since they fired half the NY cast. The whole thing with Bethany seemed off to me before and then the firing. I was done and as for RHNJ I quit watching when they brought the Gorgas in…it just felt like too much piling on and I want my reality tv to entertain me not depress me.
I like Jill always have. Not afraid to say it. Hate me if you want but what im confused about is how nobody thought andys questions were kind of rude? He asked her things like do you buy your followers. I mean he never asked Jack or any of the RHOM wives and they are the ones that jumped from like 100,000 to 300,000. I mean its very obvious.
I think Andy does have his favorites but he much better this Reunion then last. He told Jaq to stay out of it. He told Kathy to keep the moms out of it. I am convinced joe gorga is gay and that is why Andy likes Melissa.

Interesting interview, Jill still holds RHWONY close to her heart and sounds like the hurt is still fresh. Andy admitted Bravo listens to their fans and this contributes to the direction of the real housewives shows, so what happened to RHWONJ? Clearly fans didnt enjoy watching this season; it was constantly talked about on social media sites, fans were not happy with the direction of the show, yet Bravo still allowed for the housewives to trash Teresa, plant and stir up drama when Bravo have the power to change the direction of the show for the better? What will happen next season, as many fans will switch off due to the negativity and nasty housewives? Will Bravo listen to the fans and fire the nasty housewives? I can still see Jacqueline face at the reunion part 3, glearing at Teresa like she had venom in her eyes; So sad to watch, obviously Jacqueline needs mental help and her husband, family and Bravo thinks its great drama for TV and brings in the ratings. I do believe Andy and the producers have favourite housewives and is obvious Caroline & Jacqueline are there special housewives. So when it comes to selling the Housewives DVDs of the last two seasons of RHWONJ, who is going to buy them? With all this negativity, lies, planting drama and causing emotional destress in housewives lives, Bravo and producers should take responsibility. Families have been torn apart, friendships damaged, divorces, driven to mental illness and a one suicide. Bravo could be accountable for this and find themselves in many lawsuits in the future. Bravo if your really listening, bring back the fun, laughs and glamour in the real housewives franchise with a ‘dash’ of drama.

I don’t think that he’s reading. If he were reading, it would be clear to him that he shows favoritism to the other cast mates and Teresa gets the short end of the stick. He is always pressing her and Joe for information that they can’t talk about. I believe that a majority of people hate MEHO and Kathy and I get sick to my stomach knowing that one of them is going to be back for season 5. I WILL NOT watch if MEHO is back!! People tweet Andy and tell him that it’s clear to the public that HE hates Teresa. Why bring her stupid family on if he was crazy about her like he says? He’s always trying to get incriminating information on them. I hate andy!!
We need to keep putting pressure on Andy. The comments coming out about how it’s not bullying, and now about how he treats the HWs fairly show me he’s feeling heat.

I Believe that Andy C. Has and Still Does To This Day Favors Anyone Andy C. Wants to and he also is a BULLY at times it REALLY Has to STOP cuz Everyone & Everybody can see it as well as Feels it all Together. When it came to TERESA G. and the rest of the Other House Wife’s it Was All Ways Teresa and at one POINT Andy was asking Teresa all kinds of questions Then Andy was Making fun of the way Teresa would TALK an just the stuff that was coming out of Teresa mouth Andy really make fun of Teresa. Teresa is a old school Italian girl when it did come to somethings Teresa had a very Hard Time saying stuff like we all just would TALK ABOUT in ENGLISH But TERE had a hard time with and Andy would just MAKE FUN OF, Then Teresa wouldn’t understand what some of the words mean. Andy as the ass and BULLY he is was playing with her. It was Not Right at all.
It’s sort of unavoidable that some housewives and viewers will see Andy as slighting some and favoring others. I think Andy tries to be impartial. But let’s face it … it’s a business. If viewers respond positively to Bethenny, he SHOULD, for business sake, be a bit partial to her. It’s called MONEY. It just adds another wrinkle that makes these shows crazy.
Teresa is a huge money maker (second only to Bethany I bet), yet he treats her like garbage. It’s not just about $ for Andy Cohen. He’s a vindictive brat with an overgrown sense of self importance.
He totally has his favorites and it is alway obvious just by the little comments and smirks that he gives. For him to say he doesn’t is just stupid on his part. The viewers are not as dumb as he thinks.
1) He has never questioned Caroline about Al Manzo’s fraudulent patronage job that he got by lying about his residence – an election fraud. He has never questioned Caroline about the liens and lawsuits against the Brownstone. Caroline was not asked about her son’s violent abuse and beating of the people in Punta Cana that broke bones!!! He’s never asked about the Manzo’s known mob affiliation or their friendship with the criminal Bernie Kerik.
2) He has not questioned Kathy about their nonpayment liens or the accusations against them by retailers of mooching and failure to pay. He did not question Richie about his language or his crude language. He was questioned about his public display of his erection, but only jokingly, not in terms of its inappropriateness.
3) He has not questioned Melissa or Joe about their bankruptcy filings, their liens, her arrest, his arrest or any of the other scandals.
4) He has not questioned Jac about the more serious allegations of the signature apparel bankruptcy or that they were forced into bankruptcy because they stripped the company’s assets for personal use. This is no ordinary business bankruptcy, but one that involves fraud and embezzlement. They were not questioned about the BLK suit.
But the has asked Teresa about their bankruptcy, her husband’s arrest and upcoming trial and his husband’s language,
But he treats them all the same.
Andy can act like he treats each housewife equal, but that’s NOT true. He and NeNe were out and she “drunk dialed” Anderson Cooper. So Andy C. does have his favs… Jill was pee’d by it, she should get over it and I don’t see fans wanting that annoying personality back!
WHY Andy even entertained the thought of having Jill on and did, have no clue. But what a waste of time.
