Last season on The Real Housewives of Potomac, Monique Samuels received sad news and experienced a tragic loss – right before she was set to film her first RHOP reunion. She suffered her first miscarriage two days before she filmed the RHOP reunion.
In an interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish, she explained, “It definitely caught us off-guard. I was thinking I would go there and share some awesome news with all the ladies, and I didn’t because I didn’t want to talk about it at that time.”
Monique is a wife to Chris Samuels and a mom of two: son Christopher (5) and daughter Milani (2.) Monique had a lot of stress at the time and was very busy. She explained, “It was almost like I felt like I was doing something wrong. I felt like, was I not prepared? Was my body not prepared for this? So it was nonstop, and I felt like that is probably part of what contributed to the miscarriage, just being so busy, not getting proper sleep, not taking care of myself properly, all of the things that I thought I did right, I realized, no, you can be better. You’re not as balanced as you thought you were.”
Her last two pregnancies were healthy so she was very shocked and saddened. Monique explained, “It taught me not to take things for granted and to think that I’m so special, that something like that can’t happen to me. I just try to look at the positive in any situation and say obviously God knew what was best at that time. So now moving forward, I’ll make sure I’m more prepared so when the time comes again, we’ll be ready, and I’ll try not to be as nervous being that we’ve experienced that. I can only imagine if and when we get pregnant again, just the thought of it possibly happening again, just trying to shut that from my mind.”
Are more babies a possibility for this married couple? She summed up, “We’re never not trying, but we’re trying. If it happens, it happens. Every now and then, we get a little undisciplined. So if it happens, great, if it doesn’t, we’ll see what was meant to be.”
That’s such sad news, and then to have to film a reunion on top of it is crazy. I feel for Monique. I think she’s a strong lady and I’m glad she has such a positive mindset about the whole situation. Blessings to her and her family! I’m glad RHOP started up again this month!
