Lauren Manzo Celebrates Her Daughter’s First Birthday Plus Opens Up About Her Struggles Adjusting to Motherhood

Lauren Manzo and Vito Scalia‘s daughter Marchesa “Markie” Scalia turned one over the weekend, and the Manzo family went all out celebrating their little princesses 1st birthday.

However, Lauren started off her daughter’s first birthday by sending her a sweet message on Instagram while also getting very honest about her own experience with motherhood.

“One year ago today I had my little girl. I didn’t immediately feel that overwhelming, indescribable feeling of love people say you feel when you have a baby. I was terrified,” Lauren revealed on Instagram. “I couldn’t come to terms with the fact that because of this baby, life as I knew it would never be the same. It was a tough few months, to say the least. Luckily Markie has a great Dad & Grandparents, and I came out of it & realized that this little girl didn’t take my life away from me, my life started the day she was born. She makes my heart feel so full every single day even when she wakes me up at 5 am and “talks” with her hands for hours like she’s gossiping. I know being a mother will never be easy. My Mom loves to remind me, “that’s why they call us Mommy, it’s a title you earn.” But I will love you with the most overwhelming, indescribable love every step of the way. Happy 1st Birthday, Markie Girl. Mommy loves you more than anything.”

Lauren’s post received praise from fans and family including her cousin Ashlee Holmes, who wrote, “Proud of you for sharing that truth, Lauren! It isn’t the same for everyone. You’re a great Mommy for not giving up. She is so freakin cute I can’t take it. Happy Birthday.”

Meanwhile, Grandmom Caroline Manzo also posted several sweet tributes to Markie.

Markie first birthday was quite the celebration. Not only did Markie wake up surrounded by love, gifts, and balloons she also had a huge, over-the-top, blowout party at the Brownstone.

Check out all the photos of Markie’s big day below!

I think Markie’s party was so over the top, but I LOVED it! I thought it was such a cute party and honestly, I wouldn’t expect anything less from the Manzos. Plus kudos to Lauren for being open about her struggles. I so wouldn’t mind having this family back on RHONJ – I miss them, to be honest.

Thoughts on Markie’s first birthday party? Was Markie’s party over the top? Are you surprised Lauren was so open about her mommy struggles? Thoughts on Lauren’s post? Sound off below!
