Lydia McLaughlin Is Hanging Up Her Orange & Won’t Be Returning To RHOC!

Another one bites the dust!

Lydia McLaughlin is the latest Housewife to hang up her orange and walk away from the OC franchise.

This news comes just two weeks after Meghan King Edmonds revealed that she would not be returning for season 13.

In a similar style to Meghan, Lydia announced her exit from RHOC on her blog, telling fans:

Hey Friends. As you can see from the title of this post, I have some big news to share with you today.

RHOC has given me a great platform and I’m grateful for that. However, I feel like I can only handle this show one season at a time. I need a break! There is a lot of good that comes from the show, but also a lot of negativity. After a family vote, it was unanimous that I should take a break. Sometimes the people who love us the most see things even we don’t see. I trust my path and I’m excited for what the future holds.

Bravo and Evolution have been amazing to me and I have made great friendships. I treasure all my fans and appreciate all the love and support. I’ve been honored to be a source of entertainment and inspiration to all of you and I hope to continue spreading light and love.

Being a full-time mom to THREE little boys, publisher of NOBLEMAN Magazine, blogger, jewelry designer, author, and wife, I have a lot going on! I will continue to share my life and faith and use this platform to be a lightworker.

I grew up on TV and love the entertainment business. I can’t help and be a little sad for my departure but 100% feel it is the best for me and my family. Lots of other dreams to make come true in my life and in no way do I want to make a career out of being a housewife. That just isn’t me. Life is short and I choose to focus on what makes me happy and brings me joy.

After season 8, I decided to take a break and write a book and have my third baby. That was the right decision for me although many people didn’t understand why I would walk away. Gods plan is always good and it was the perfect timing for me with the launch of NOBLEMAN Magazine to return for season 12. I feel it is now, the perfect twist to once again hang up my orange.

We will always stay connected! If you don’t already, follow me @ocLydia on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook

Shortly after announcing her exit, Lydia spoke to Us Weekly and further explained her decision to say goodbye to reality TV once again.

“The decision to film and sign on for season 13, like my husband and I were talking a lot, and so we included our kids in the conversation, and we did a family vote, and I was kind of on the fence … obviously, they would support me if I really decided to do it again, but I just felt like that was a really good indicator of maybe just the stress it puts on them,” Lydia told Us Weekly.

As for season 13, Lydia hopes whoever replaces her is a “voice of reason” for the cast. Hear that Bravo?

“I’m assuming… they have to have five to seven girls, so I’m hoping that they can have someone that is grounded and levelheaded and a voice of reason and a peacemaker,” Lydia explained. “Hopefully I was those things, and you know, I think everyone will miss my sparkle.”

Lydia also gave an update on her relationship with Shannon Beador, who she infamously butted heads with during season 12.

“I think people would be surprised to know, but Shannon and I made up at the end. Off camera she looked at me and was like, ‘Are we good?’ And I said, ‘We’re good.’ And we gave each other a hug,” Lydia revealed.

However, it seems that their peace was short-lived as shortly after the reunion Lydia found herself blocked by Shannon and Tamra Judge on social media.

“That’s the last time I’ve ever seen her, but after that Tamra [Judge] and her both blocked me on social media, which I think is super weird,” Lydia explained.

Adding, “I’m friends with Peggy [Sulahian]. We have like a genuine friendship, and I’m friends with Gretchen [Rossi] and Alexis [Bellino] and Heather [Dubrow], but I guess I’m not really friends with any of the current cast which is also a huge factor. For me to film a show where you’re supposed to be friends with them… we’re just too different. We’re in different stages of our lives.”

Did anyone else catch Lydia say she’s NOT friends with any of the current cast but says she’s friends with Peggy? I think that means that Peggy is out for season 13 as well and her announcement will be coming soon.

I think it’s pretty clear that those rumors, remember those rumors saying Peggy, Lydia, and Meghan would be out for season 13, were accurate. First Meghan, now Lydia, and I guarantee Peggy’s next. It’s all adding up.

Plus those rumors that Tatiana and Gina are joining season 13 are making sense now.

I’m not shocked that Lydia’s out. I loved Lydia the first time around, but this time she was different. I think it’s interesting how she pops in and out of RHOC so I wouldn’t be surprised if she shows up again down the line.

Are you surprised about Lydia’s departure from RHOC? Will you miss Lydia? Do you think Peggy will be the next one to announce she’s leaving RHOC?  Do you think Tatiana and Gina will be replacing Meghan and Lydia? Sound off below!
